Cafe Luke's [Tuesday]

It was Sookie's last shift at Luke's, ever, and it was making her a little nostalgic. Sure, she'd already yelled at the guys in the back about looking at her butt, just for old time's sake. And she was working on an apple pie, because that was probably what she'd made the most of.

But what really sealed it for her was when she went into the back to look for flower and was knocked over by a huge bag of renegade peas.

She'd miss this place.

Toby hadn't had a specific destination in mind when he set out into town, but passing by Luke's reminded him that hey, weren't Tuesdays the day Sookie worked there? Maybe he should stop in and say hi. Annnnnd maybe score some more free pie, shut up.

"Sookie, hey," he greeted, coming in to the cafe (with shoes this time, thank you. "How's your day going?"

"Kinda sad," Sookie answered honestly, picking a pea out of her hair. "What brings you in, honey?"

Toby bit back the urge to ask what was up with the presence of hair-vegetables, and then shrugged. "Not a lot to do between classes," he admitted. "I remembered you were working here last time I came in, so..." Toby trailed off with a shrug. "Sad? Anything I can do to help?" he asked.

"Not unless you can go back in time and make me fail all my classes," she said ruefully. "I leave the island next week. This is my last shift here."

"...Oh," Toby looked way too crestfallen than anyone who'd only spoken to her a handful of times had any right to be, he knew that, but still. "I didn't realise the end of summer was that close."
