Goodvalor's Little Bivoli, Sunday

Zayne felt weird not being at the picnic yesterday. Not that he had any reason to be at it, but it wasn't that long ago that he was constantly going to them to see if any other Jedi showed up. But instead, he had to move out of the restaurant's office and into an actual apartment. And more than anything, that made him feel weirdly grown up. Somehow, everything he went through on his own and with his friends - including running three different businesses now - just didn't cement the idea that he was an actual responsible adult like having an apartment that wasn't just a room on a ship.

Not that any of that had much to do with the clearly displayed "HELP WANTED" sign by the door, except for the thought that teenagers needed jobs for money, which was only tangentially related to Zayne's original thinking anyway.

Who may be a little lost in thought.

[Available early Sunday morning and most of Sunday evening. You can ping in the afternoon if you don't mind waiting for me, though!]

Posting early since I'll forget in the morning.

Anyway, I'm leaving here late in the morning to drive up to Milwaukee for a Cubs-Brewers game. I'm guessing I'll be home somewhere around 7-8 PM Central, so if anyone wants to talk to Zayne and/or ask him about a job, I'll be around a little!

If anyone does want a job, any day but Sunday and Friday are available. I theoretically have Zayne working a second day during the week, too, but that's been spotty and can be moved from Wednesday. Either e-mail me (see the profile) or just tag Zayne and we can do it IC. But now I sleep.

Annie didn't want to grab whatever she could from the common room today, so that meant actually going out to get something. Which when she arrived, led to a very important question.

"Fish sauce?"

Forget that she had no idea what dru'un was. That part didn't make her raise her eyebrows at all.

"I'm sorry, I have no idea if it's sauce made from fish or sauce for fish," Zayne offered in response to the question. "But it tastes pretty good."

"Where's it from?" she wondered. Maybe it was a European thing. She had no idea.

"Coruscant," Zayne said. "It's the capital planet of the Republic in my galaxy, so don't worry if you haven't heard of it."

Annie's face lit up. "That's so cool! So what, is all the food themed to home or something?"

"Only the specials, really," Zayne said. "And that's partially because the cooking droids are more familiar with that stuff than Earth food."

"Not that they don't make good Earth food, of course."

"Wait, you have robots to do the cooking?" This was kind of awesome. Sure, it was one step closer to them taking over, but... cooking! "So what are you hiring for then, if they've got that covered?"

"Hosting. Waiting. I have a droid for that, too, if we get busy or someone can't make it in, but people usually react better to a human face welcoming them," Zayne said. "Why, are you interested in the job?"

She hadn't actually thought about that. And it wasn't like she didn't need money. "I don't know. Maybe? I've never done anything like that before."

"Neither have I, but it's easy enough to pick up," Zayne said. "But if you are interested, just let me know."

Annie bit her lip, thinking it over, but... why not? You know, it could be fun. And it had robots! "I guess I could give it a try," she said, trying not to smile like a dork too much. "By which I mean I will be awesome at it."

"The most important thing is to have a good attitude, so I think you're off to a good start," Zayne said. "I'm Zayne. Welcome to the Goodvalor's team, Ms....?"

"Oh! Right! Annie. Annie Edison," she said, sticking her hand out for him to shake because that was professional.

Zayne shook her hand and gave a sheepish smile. "Yeah, most places probably ask for names before hiring. That hasn't been my way so far," he said. "What day can you work, Annie?"

She knew her schedule immediately. "Well, I have classes most days, but if you don't mind me coming in after first period, I could do Tuesdays?"

"We don't even open until 11, so that works perfectly," Zayne said. "I may be around during your shift sometimes, but don't worry, I'll usually stick to the office in back."

"Okay, that's perfect," she said happily. "Thank you so much, I won't let you down!"

"I'm sure you won't," Zayne said.
