Movie Theater: Wednesday Evening

Okay so maybe a blind guy taking a date to the movies might seem rather pointless. Though it was probably more fun to actually go to a movie than stay in the dorms and listen to a book on tape.

Actually it is a lot more fun. Plus there's popcorn.

The title of the movie?

Rated PG-13

"I'm assuming this is not warm hearted Romantic Comedy based on the title," Matt noted as he paid for the tickets.

[Matt is here for one who isn't her own age. However post is open to anyone who wishes to watch.

"Hey, just means I get to be more creative with my descriptions," Claudia decided. "A rom-com would be like 'the pretty white girl just fell down. Now she's meeting the jerk with a heart of gold. Oh look, they accidentally almost kissed. Here comes her sassy minority best friend!'"

"I think I heard of this one," Matt joked as they entered the lobby. "Is that the one with misunderstanding that breaks them up but the sassy minority friend brings them back together in a contrived situation?"

"No no, it's the one where the jerk with a heart of gold is reformed via some contrived magical realism. And then the misunderstanding breaks them up and the sassy minority friend brings them back together in a contrived fashion. That's called variety."

"Oh, well I definitely haven't seen that one," Matt said stopping in front of the candy counter. "Then again I haven't seen them at all. Popcorn?"

"Definitely," Claudia said, then immediately wondered if she was expected to turn it down because she was a girl.

Then decided that was a load of crap.

"Horror movies are more fun, anyway. I'm expecting either a troubled young professional couple with perfect little creepy children, or possibly nubile teenagers in peril. And lots of chances to use jump scares as excuses to cuddle."

She wasn't sure why, but she really liked the idea of cuddling, this week. Also possibly canoodling. And other weirdly cute words for bodies touching in fun ways.

Matt's eyebrows might have gone up a notch or two in amusement as he paid for the popcorn. Cuddling? Canoodling? It all sounded good to Matt.

"Now do you really need an excuse for that?" Matt teased as they headed to the theater. "I mean really you probably don't even have to ask."

Especially with this week being what it is. Weird, huh?

"Excuses make it more fun," Claudia said. "But it's good to know you feel that way." She wasn't much for paying attention to the radio, and as such had actually missed that anyone else might be feeling a bit . . . weird this week. "Maybe we should stick to the back of the theater, then. We don't need to be giving the audience an extra show."

"Well all right," Matt said with a shrug. "Though I'm not sure how I'm going to see the movie from way back there."

Yes. He thought he was funny.

"Wow," Claudia said, leading the way to the back. "That was terrible. I'm not sure I want to cuddle you, any more."

Yes. Yes she did.

"Awww," Matt said with a pout. "C'mon. What if I throw in some Junior Mints?"

"No, I think maybe this one will cost you Raisinets." Because that was totally upping the ante. Or something. "Or maybe ice cream after the show."

"We'll go with ice cream," Matt said settling down in his seat. "Mostly because I don't like raisins. Or are chocolate covered raisins a deal breaker?"

"Nah, it'd be weird if we agreed on everything." Claudia sat down next to him, already leaning in. "Think we'll get any good previews?"

"You'll have totell me, " Matt said as the lights dimmed and attempting to slip his arm around Claudia's shoulder.. "I hear that movie with all the superheroes is supposed to be good. Though I probably wouldn't be the best critic."

"Because your superpower is awkwardness?" Claudia guessed.

"Hmmm. I dunno," Matt grinned. "Not feeling too awkward at the moment."

"Does that make me your arch-nemesis? Stealing your power?"

"I hope not. I think they'll take my cape away if someone sees me making out with my arch-nemesis."

"I thought those sorts of things were all about the sexual tension?"

Everything Claudia needed to know about archnemeses, she'd learned from Mister What.

"You're not feeling tense?" Matt teased. "I must be doing it wrong. Then again I've never heard of meta for Mr. Fantastic and Dr. Doom snuggling in a movie theater."

"They must be good at avoiding the paparazzi."

"Well they do wear costumes. I still think it would be pretty difficult."

"To avoid the paparazzi? Or to get hot and heavy through all that costuming?"

"Either one. I think I'd have to review some empirical evidence to see if this would actually work. You wouldn't happen to have a costume would you?"

"Just my old campfire girls uniform. I'd have to find a good men's costume. Those cover way more."
