The Devil's Nest, Saturday, January 19
As a monster who stalked the darkness herself, you'd think she wouldn't be kicking herself for being dumb enough to go to a horror movie on the mainland. Alone. (Bo's particular monstrosities were more associated with the night than limited to it, but still. A PG-13 movie, even.)
And she wouldn't have been... probably... but then there was coming to work at night. Alone. (Except for a trio of gremlins who followed her from the Causeway to the Devil's Nest, humming the stupid creepy song that the stupid creepy kids in the stupid creepy movie got taught by their stupid creepy floating ghost mom the whole time, which meant they must have actually followed her all the way to the theatre and sneaked in and that was why her popcorn had disappeared so fast, the little bastards.)
Then there was setting up the bar. Alone. (Tiny? Nowhere to be found. The DJ? Nowhere to be found.)
Then there was standing behind the bar. Alone. (Lit by flickering candles because someone who was tall enough to change the burnt out bulb over the counter hadn't shown up to work tonight.)
Thus, there was kicking herself.
There was also nearly setting the place on fire by knocking over a candle the first time one of the gremlins whispered Mama! from the shadows, and shrieking loudly enough to drown out the hysterical chorus of laughter that followed.
Shut up.
