Sam was engrossed in something actually non-work-related today for once: she had found a book at the library last night about the history of global positioning ("history" meaning up until about 2065 -- the library was like that) and was reading it every chance she got. It was fascinating.

It was kind of unfortunate about the reading, mainly because when Éponine took her usual few minutes out of her day to wander by and creep like a creeping thing have a look from across the street it piqued her interest as to what the book was about.

Which led to a couple of additional minutes of nothing-at-all-weird-about-this-really staring.

. . . in the rain. Of course.
