Drac was a little eager today. This was proven out by the sudden black-out of the theater lights and a spotlight appearing as he walked through the curtains onto the stage. Music swelled and he raised an arm to point to the audience:

"In each of us there are two natures. If this primitive duality of man – good and evil – could be housed in separate identities, life would be relieved of all that is unbearable. It is the curse of mankind that these polar twins should be constantly struggling."

There was only the briefest of pauses before the music suddenly changed and became much more uptempo, and Drac began to sing again,

"The world has gone beserk!
And hiding in the murk, new monsters lurk!
I see a sea of snakes upon the floor!
I see the reaper grinning at my door!
I scream in silence!
Bad is good, and good is bad!
Sacred is profane!
And it’s wiser to be mad…

In a world that’s gone insane!"

As soon as he ended the word insane, the vampire grinned evilly and flared his cape. He turned sharply and strode out of the spotlight, letting the music continue to an empty spotlit stage as he made his exit.

When the music ended, the spotlight went out and the lights came up. Drac glided across the stage, his normal smiling self. "Welcome back, everyone. You should all know at least some of your lines by now. Today we will continue reading, but we will focus on getting you and your stage presence prepared for musical accompaniment. As you just saw, music can change your words, spoken or sung. So today... We will be singing!"

He clapped his hands excitedly. He didn't sing in public anymore, but he adored singing and music in general. "Please break into groups. Those of you who are used to singing in public and wish simply to practice or run lines, and those who need more assistance or who have no singing experience. Stage hands and other non-performers, feel free to begin your duties or to help out the performers. No heckling or you will be placed in time out." Singing was srs bzns!

"I will be available as needed for any of you."

Wow. No one has done a rap or autotune version of any of these songs? Really?!

And Drac is! Obviously!

Hannibal wasn't exactly a singer, but he could read music and carry a tune, which was likely what they meant, so he went with the more experienced people. Short of a vocal-cord transplant, practice was really the only thing he needed.

It had been a while, but Cecil had been in glee club in high school. The first time. He figured that made him "not a newbie", so he settled Foucault with Joni and bounced over to the experienced group.

Minako didn't really need help with singing in public. Ever. She quickly ran through her scales, and then began picking her songs apart, running them in sections to help her memorize them faster.

"Doctor!" Drac was pleased to see you and had a hand out to shake, with the other ready for a pat on your shoulder! "You've come to show the children how it's to be done, I see?"

Drac... wan't sure what to make of this student. They hadn't formally met, so Drac waited a moment before introducing himself.

"Hello. I am Count Dracula. Thank you for participating in the play, young man."

Drac... paused as he passed by Minako and just listened. He nodded appreciatively at her singing and her voice in general. If asked, he would point out that she could practice matching actions and movement to song, but it was fairly obvious she was practiced, so perhaps she knew that?

Hannibal shook Drac's hand and endured the hand on his shoulder. "Hello, Count. I'm not sure I'll be giving any lessons, but at least I can read the music."

"Hi!" Cecil grinned up at him. "I thought your entrance was really dramatic. I'm not sure about theory, though." He thought for a second. "I mean, even if good and evil got put in different people, you'd still have to deal with them, wouldn't you?" He wrinkled his nose. Like Desert Bluffs. Ew.

Jackson didn't want help. But he also didn't want to be here in general.

Yeah, he was just going to look scowly.

Drac wandered over, smiling. "It's not that bad, is it? Plays can be fun."

Jono? Also here! Sitting back today and letting Drac take point since he was the musical director in this operation, but here.

Drac nodded. "You would, but it is easier to avoid a man wholly than to avoid a part of a whole man."

"Also, what I recited was part of the script. It's meant to be Doctor Jekyll's thoughts and hypothesis, what drives him in the play."

Jackson continued to look sour.

"Not really."

But give him time and his natural competitiveness and obsessive relationship with perfection would kick in and drive him forward.

"We have a range of talents here; I'm sure your help would be appreciated, should it be shared. Although most of the problems I am anticipating will boil down to confidence, I'm sure."

"I must admit, this will be my first time being involved with a play from the inside, so to speak. I am more used to watching from afar." watching EVERYTHING from afar, actually. "But so far it's been fun."

"Were you not in theater in your hometown?"

Cecil nodded. He'd gotten that far in the script, at least. "I guess," he answered. "Like trying to talk to Michael Sandero's left head without his right head hearing." He shrugged. "Well, I suppose if I'm a little skeptical, that's probably good, since my character is too, right?"

"Well, I'll see what I can do." Hannibal smiled. "How have you been lately? And Mavis?" he asked politely.

Kenzi is there, doing things. Like costume things, with a tape measure.

Get your inseams measured here! ... or you know, Kenzi may just hand over that tape measure and make you do it as she types in your numbers to her iPhone.

Kenzi sang her two lines. Then dramatically expired.

Did the Beacon Hills werewolf variety hour count? Probably not.

"No."

He also looked like the question had been absurd. But he did that a lot.
