Kenzi was putting her contemplation of weirdness on hold for the day. She had work, and she had practice, and she had possible guests for lunch -- and an adorable tutu for one in particular.

"Anyone makes a comment about my hair, they're getting scalped."

The kitchen crew went right back to work, keeping their mouths shut.

"Hi Kenzi!" Amelia said, when she wandered in near lunch, looking pleased with herself. "I beat Sparks here."

"You did!" Kenzi grinned at Amelia and pointed at the seats next to the counter. "Which means you get to pick where to sit. Did you bring your appetite? We have some really good soup today. And cookies."

Amelia scrutinized the seats carefully before picking one and clambering up onto it.

"I like soup," she said cheerfully. "And you have cookies? Really?"

"Yup!" Kenzi got the sample plate out, and no matter what Sheba thought about maybe-being-too-rich, she thought Amelia deserved to at least try one. "They have chocolate stuffed in them, with chocolate chips. If you like chocolate?"
