Community Center Class: Psionics for the Headblind Herd [Monday Evening]

"Congratulations," Emma said dryly once it seemed like everyone that was going to come had arrived. "You survived seven weeks with me at the head of the room. You've already done better than most of my interns."

Mind, Emma's interns had to suffer entire days with her in the corporate offices of the Hellfire Club, moving money around and making more of it. Most of the poor children didn't last a week.

"As a reward, today you get to play with psionics you might not normally have access to," she continued, dumping out a gym bag filled with gloves similar to that of her Ghost Suit. "Put them on, you'll have minor TK. Try not to abuse it."

"If you already have TK, you're welcome to try seeing the world through my eyes, literally." Emma tapped the side of her head. "We can do a general ride-along, or with the permission of a classmate, hear and see them the way I do."

After two days, Atton was at least able to move on his own again, albeit partly thanks to a whole metal thing around his leg, under his pants. The slightly wooden way his leg moved was visible no matter what he tried, so he'd decided owning it was the next best thing.

Which was to say he'd grabbed a second chair and put his foot on it before bothering to start paying attention to Emma.

Atton didn't strictly need the gloves, but he was putting on a set anyway for two reasons: one, to learn how the technology worked, and two, so nobody could be entirely sure about the extent of his own telekinesis.

Floating a nerf ball around was soothing, at least, after two days of not being able to move the way he wanted to.

Yeah, Atton wasn't even going to bother, here. Besides his own issues re: telepathic incursions, he also had enough on his plate with his own telepathy and weird Force-sense.

But he was curious, so he was sitting up and squinting at whoever did bother to take Emma up on her offer. He'd tried to explain this to Sparks on numerous occasions and run into variations on 'hey, whatever works'; he was interested to see if Emma had it worked out.

Of course Hardison was paying attention! There was new tech to geek out about and the chance to pretend to have powers that didn't involve getting kidnapped by aliens?

He'd settle for holding one dart in the air while seeing if he could hit it with another one. That was like learning control and coordination, right? A definite step up from, you know... flicking nerf darts at people.

Oh hell yes.

Hardison slipped the gloves on and happily spent ten minutes moving items around with the power of his mind alone--and then he was giving Emma puppy-eyes to see if he could get the same agreement with these gloves as he had with the Ghost Suit.

Parker would love these.

Oh, good, he had the gloves on. "Mr. Hardison?" Emma called out sweetly, pulling a composition notebook out of her briefcase. "Catch."

Assuming he did catch it, and didn't manage to crush it into itty bitty pieces (please, Emma hadn't put that much juice in them for novices), he'd find it was filled with copies of Emma's Ghost Suit notes in neat, tidy handwriting, including some of her (and Hank's) intuitive leaps in the margins.

She'd left out notes on her own powers, of course, and her own DNA sequencing, but pretty much everything else had been copied over exactly.

Hardison caught it easily--regardless of whatever Eliot might say, he had good reflexes--and looked down. It took him a few seconds to register what he was holding. When he did, he looked up at her with dawning wonder and joy. "I--yo, thanks, Emma. This is--I'mma take good care of this, yo. See what I can do with it. An' you got my word that none of this goes anywhere it ain't supposed to."

That was, like, heartfelt feelings. Emma did...not know how to deal with something like that.

"I get first right on investment on anything that goes into R&D with the intent of going to market," she said, trying to brush it off instead. "And yes, I can hear you, yes, you can keep ONE pair of gloves."

That was Hardison all the way, heartfelt feelings and genuine emotions.

"A'ight," he said easily. "Hell, you can have it if anythin' pans out that looks like it could be worth goin' to the market. I'm just in it to mess around, the base tech is all you. Not just that--this kinda thing could put you in danger or somethin? I wanna see what I can do with it, not put somethin' dangerous in the hands of folks who could hurt you an' yours."

That said, he was going to punch air at the thought of keeping the gloves. "I can't wait to see what I can do with this! I'mma out-steal Parker!"

...Okay, no he wasn't, but the hope was there!

Hannibal put on the gloves, and started by seeing if they'd pick up a chair or desk. Then he worked on fine control, seeing how well he could manipulate some of the smaller nerf objects. It was interesting, if not the power he'd give himself if he had the choice.
