It was a thinky kind of day, and that was what Anders was doing. He thought and worried and considered -- about Nathan, and the other Thedosians on the island, and whether Karl might be able to slip away to visit for another weekend -- as he stacked shelves, as he put away herbs, as he took breaks to play with Lachlan. (The cat, not appreciating Anders' frame of mind, had insisted on going to work with him today.)

If he didn't come to any conclusions, it wasn't due to lack of effort.
