Bold seemed to understand what that meant, because he immediately huffed and his ears flicked forward. Dani tried to reassure him by patting him on the neck. "Don't worry. Just because I'm not banned from the racetrack doesn't mean I'm turning my back on this place. I just need to figure out how much my dad paid off in bribes, and what my next move should be."

The Gig was open, and while Dani enjoyed talking to the horses, she wouldn't turn away a set of human ears.
