Luke's, Sunday
Kanan had managed to leave the dog behind in the apartment today for his shift at Luke's by sneaking out while the puppy was sleeping, and had made do with coffee from the Perk again this morning because Obi-Wan had made him more than a little paranoid about what the contents of the caf Hondo sold him might actually be. So, with those two things in mind, he'd more or less broken even on the morning in general.
Except for how half the staff were now giving him a hard time for not bringing the puppy along.
"Oh, come on, guys. We serve food here!"
Today's Specials:
Reuben Dog
Salted Dark Chocolate Almond Bark
Puppy Cupcakes
And free dog treats to all doggy visitors today!
Kanan just sighed and shook his head as he got to work, but he was fairly certain the staff was giving him dirty looks whenever his back was turned.

Re: Talk to Kanan
"Heard you got yourself a dog."
RE: Re: Talk to Kanan
"People keep assuring me he's a dog," Kanan agreed, shrugging his shoulders. "He's not like any dog I've ever seen before, though. He's got the floppy puppy part down, but he's also... spotty?"
You really had to see these spots, Eliot.

Re: Talk to Kanan
Val yipped in agreement. Or possibly in demand for a snack.
RE: Re: Talk to Kanan
Dog was probably driving the neighbors nuts crying for Kanan by now anyway.
Re: Talk to Kanan
RE: Re: Talk to Kanan
Kanan shrugged as he headed for the door.
"Back in five."
And it was actually only four before Kanan reappeared, puppy trotting along merrily behind him.
Re: Talk to Kanan
Val, on the other hand, didn't give a lick what color Dog's spots were. She rushed on over to say hi, sniffing and wagging up a storm.
"Right," Eliot said after a moment. "You got 'im on that wacky psychedelic world, didn't ya."
RE: Re: Talk to Kanan
Please excuse Kanan for looking so smug as he watched the two canines sniffing and making each others' acquaintance. Giving Eliot a moment's pause was an accomplishment and he knew it.
"Though it's probably more accurate to say that he got me. I just gave up trying to lose him once we left that place."
He was not a subtle pet for a man who was on the run, really.
RE: Re: Talk to Kanan
Re: Talk to Kanan
"Thanks," he replied. "Next step, figuring out how to train an alien dog."
He was really going to have to just suck it up and get all Jedi at the little guy, eventually. Today was not that day.
"Or, uh, naming him."
Sorry, Dog.
RE: Re: Talk to Kanan
Re: Talk to Kanan
Months. He'd gone by 'kid,' much as he hated the word, for months. Dog was doing pretty okay so far, by comparison.
Re: Talk to Kanan
Re: Talk to Kanan
"Of course there's that, too," he admitted. "Maybe I'll set a hard deadline on it, then. Give it another few days, and even if nothing clicks, whatever name I hate the least by then is the winner."
It was a better proposition than loosely scrambling the syllables in somebody else's name after months of being nameless. Not that he'd ever done that before. Really.
Honest.
"He'll just have to live with it."

"Right," Kanan agreed, pointing a finger at Eliot. "The pink ones."
It was entirely possible that he knew full well by now just what those birds were called, too.
Re: Talk to Kanan
Re: Talk to Kanan
These were really not quite as inspired as 'Val.'
Re: Talk to Kanan
Re: Talk to Kanan
A beat as he pulled out a decently long strip of receipt paper he'd liberated from the till, with Aurebesh scrawl covering it from top to bottom.
On both sides.
"It's a long list."
Re: Talk to Kanan
Re: Talk to Kanan
Which, he supposed, probably would have been more clear if he was writing in any script actually found on Earth.
Re: Talk to Kanan
Re: Talk to Kanan
"... How do you feel about Stance, buddy?"
The look of surprise on Kanan's face when the pup actually paused in playing with Val long enough to look at him and bark was pretty clear. He supposed the dog was just responding to being talked to at all, but he couldn't exactly complain about the results.
Re: Talk to Kanan
Re: Talk to Kanan
And he hoped that Eliot would excuse him a moment to just kind of stand there and smile like the big dork he secretly actually was.
"I have a dog."
Well. Sort of a dog. It was vaguely doglike, at least by Earth standards. That would do.
Re: Talk to Kanan
"You've got a dog."
