This place was so damn hot! Taako had multiple fans pointing in his own direction and had taken off his boots in order to cool off. Thankfully his legs looked fabulous and he had no problem showing them off.

He had his skirt hiked up to just above the standards of decency but if you're willing to deal with that, sure, talk to him.

"I'm thinking that we already have a fridge. And a cooler," Kenzi said, studying the Item of the Day. "On the other hand, it's a nice bit of bling."

Bo eyed it speculatively. "It'd be a hell of a lot more convenient than carrying a fridge and a cooler around the island, too," she mused.

"As long as it's not one of the things that quits working after four uses or something. Or only works once a day," Kenzi added with an eye-roll. Summer was coming up after all. She trailed her fingers over some of the other merchandise, considering a five-finger discount for old-times sake', but refraining until she could find out what kind of alarms the place had.

"Even if it does..." Bo shrugged. "You're right, it's not bad to look at. Plus maybe we should have some magic jewelry in the house that doesn't render me powerless? Like camouflage, in case anybody's ever dumb enough to try to rob us."

Pause. Playback of a certain bizarre couple of weeks that ended in a town-wide raid on Needful Things.

"...Again."

Kenzi snickered, brightening. "Ooo, that's a good plan. If we're the only ones that know what the Magic Doohickey of No-Hanky-Panky looks like, we keep it safer among all the other things!" She picked up what mostly looked like a lollipop-ring, and almost gave in to the urge to lick it to see if it was cherry or raspberry. "I wonder if they've got books on succubi. Or other Fae. Or those stupid courts that were looking to recruit you."

"Light and Dark." Bo took a few steps toward the more papery, less glittery area of the shop. "That's not a bad idea. Maybe they even have something that explains why I'm supposed to be picking one when as far as I can tell, they're only competing for who can be the biggest asshats."

"Seriously, I mean, they were both in the Thunderdome, that whispery guy wasn't any nicer than Cruella De Ville, and they never even told you anything useful about yourself. Saskia was way cooler," Kenzi concluded, pawing through some of the books. She stopped and side-eyed one that looked like it was going to paw back.

"Watch the sticky fingers," Bo cautioned, well aware that it might've been more appropriate back among the shiny things, but also aware that regardless of how valuable or pretty something might or might not be, Kenzi tended to operate on the cat principle of 'Anything not nailed down is mine, anything I can pry up is not nailed down.' "Some of this stuff might be the kind you don't want to get stuck to."

"Ugh. Point." Maybe this place wouldn't even have alarms, maybe it would just POOF! vanish from their place, and arrive back at Fantasy CostCo if she walked off with it.

That kind of made Kenzi want to rob the place even more. Magic was just cheating.

"I still kind of miss that ring of invisibility," Kenzi said wistfully. "Stupid cursed object or not."

Bo snorted. "I don't miss nearly having a coronary every time you turned up behind me when I didn't even know you were in the house."

Kenzi snickered. That had been awesome. On the other hand, having the little ring turn into a Baba Yaga doll trying to mess with her, had really really not been.

She stopped to look at a book called 1001 Ways To Clean Your Dungeon and said, "Do you need a copy of this one?"

"I do not have a dungeon!" Just a lot of interesting toys, only some of which could be used to kill people.

And a swing.

And at last count, seven pairs of handcuffs.

Shut up.

"Unless that's supposed to be some kind of euphemism, in which case, no, I don't need any advice on how to clean it, thank you."

Don't forget the Office Chair of Ultimate Relaxation, Bo. But then again, that was for the works-pace, not the play-space.

"We could pick up some more lemon-scented towels if you needed them?" Kenzi snickered and moved on, saying, "Now, a book about the Island, that would be useful, but no way that would just be on sale. It's always been hidden somewhere in the Special Collections part of the Library." She picked up What To Expect When You're Not Expecting Anything and added, "I'm alarmed and intrigued. Should we?"

Bo blinked at the cover. "I'm not sure if that's the most useful book in the world for where we live, or just an invitation to the island to try everything listed in it."

"Like last Wednesday, and the hairstyles every two minutes?" That had been fun for a while, but seriously. "Also randomly turning me into a kid and then a pony for half an hour. What the Hell, Island." She put the book back, not wanting to tempt fate. "Oooo. Convincing Cats: A Primer. We need this!"

"Published by the Pan-Global Tuna Farmers' Association?" Not that Bo was exactly arguing about how handy - or clawsy - it might come in around their home. "Gee, I wonder what step one will be."

"It could still work," Kenzi insisted, opening the book up to a photo of a cat opening a door by leaping off a hanging-plant. "And Anonykitty's been bored lately. I've lost shoes to her. Shoes!" She flipped it shut. "I'm getting this. Also any 7-league-boots they've got lying out, even if they only work twice."

"Dude, how could you lose shoes to her?" Bo asked, at the same time wondering exactly where her totally-not-Smurf-hide blue stilettos had disappeared to. "How is she even big enough to take shoes anywhere?"

"I don't know," Kenzi whispered intensely. "But I caught her on the back porch just before she pushed one of my sandals off the stairs. Which was not where I left them! I think maybe she's hoarding the rest of them somewhere." Even though most of the shoes were bigger than the munchkin was.

"Cats are freaky," Bo decided, not for the first time, nor was it necessarily a complaint. "If this book works, it'll probably be the most magical thing in the place."

"We should pick up a toy or a treat for her to go with the book," Kenzi said. "...okay, organic eye-of-newt? How-- what?"

"We're not getting the cat eye of..." Bo picked up the jar warily. "Organic free-range eye of newt? As opposed to what, newt farms?"

"Are the eyes free-range, or are the newts free-range?" Kenzi wanted to know. "I mean, I don't even know that much about newts, but I'm wondering about what constitutes a range, here." Also maybe little cowboy hats for the newts.

"Like...just eyes rolling around the farm?" It was waaaaaaaay too easy for Bo to picture that. And more or less illustrate it with her face.
