The Park, Friday Afternoon
Really, at this point, nobody ought to be surprised to find Kanan in the park on a Friday afternoon, running through forms with his lightsaber. If he did this any more regularly, he'd probably have to consider registering the park as a place of employment or something.
... Could somebody actually do that? Maybe he could offer self-defense classes here when the weather was good. Or when the weather was bad, for that matter. No pain, no gain, after all.
Anyway. Kanan. In the park. Lightsaber forms. With his actual lightsaber blade ignited, and the usual practice sword set to the side, waiting for his student.
There was a bit of a chill in the air. It wasn't unwelcome, today.
[OOC: Open park!]

So when she jogged up today, she was wearing her big winter coat. And a scarf. And her hair contained in a giant beanie.
"I've just remembered why I hate November."

The hat was going to stay, though. With hair like Tip's, a hat was a commitment.
Also, she'd forgotten to bring hair ties.

"Just make sure it comes off before you work up a sweat," he cautioned, reaching for his training sword. "You'll cool down a lot faster than you were banking on, otherwise."
He gave her a teasing grin.
"The extra padding probably won't hurt anyway."
no subject
"You planning to throw things at me again?" Tip guessed.
no subject
"Nope," Kanan replied cheerfully, giving his practice sword a spin in his hand. "Today, we spar."
He wasn't even sorry, Tip.
no subject
"Soooooo, you're just going to beat on me. God to know."
This was going to go terribly.

He spun the sword again, and then shook his head with a sigh.
"We're going to go slowly," he added. "And I don't intend to actually land anything. If I get through your defenses, I'll stop just shy of actually hitting you, and I'll call the hit, that's all. I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't think you were ready to at least give it a try."
no subject
But "sparring" sounded terrifying.
"Wait, how is that different from what we've already been doing?"
no subject
He'd tricked you into sparring all this time, Tip.

She was going to fall flat on her ass so much trying to put footwork into this. But, you know, it wasn't like she hadn't kind of sucked at every single other thing he'd been teaching her the first time she did it.
"Well, I guess that will distract me from the fact that it's freezing out here," Tip said. "I'm still not discounting you as a sadist, yet."

"Body parts," Tip repeated, as she pulled out her practice sword and settled into position. "Why am I doing this again?"
Oh right, this was still less appalling than a Boov gun.
no subject
"Clearly," Kanan said, "I bullied you into it." He gave a short, professional sort of nod, tucking one hand behind his back and holding the training sword in a somewhat altered ready position with the other. "Begin."
When it came to sword work, it was all business.

Uh uh, Kanan, hang on here. "Wait, what the hell is that?" Tip asked, straightening slightly from her stance. "Why do you look like you're in a fancy fencing YouTube?"
no subject
no subject
"No, but I'm pretty sure an actual opponent won't be trying to teach me things."
no subject
He was going to just keep patiently holding that pose until Tip did something. He could be there for a while.

That was a far better choice. This way, she was far less likely to continue giving him shit.
"Okay. But after I'm totally showing you the fancy fencing youtubes."
no subject
"Works for me," he decided, and then he lifted his chin. "Now, are you ready?"
