Furnado Animal Shelter, Tuesday
There was a small gray parrot in the shelter today. Zack thought she was actually kind of charming, with the little white mask on her face, and the flashes of red in her tail, not to mention just how incredibly smart she was. Zack had started the day mostly just chatting at the bird, seeing what words she knew and was willing to echo back to him. And then he'd let her out of her cage for some playtime, which led to teaching her how to step up onto his hand on command.
By the end of the day, he was cradling the bird in one arm like a baby while she babbled up at him with a combination of kissy sounds and fragments of conversation that she had picked up throughout the day. He wasn't generally a bird person, but he had to admit, she was going to make some new bird owner very happy someday.
[OOC: ... I miss having birds that are not as dumb as rocks. Open!]
