Furnado Animal Shelter, Tuesday
Zack came in to the animal shelter today to the weirdly wheezy peep-a-cheep sounds of a bunch of baby finches, tucked away neatly behind a toy in the cage that nobody had thought to look behind while cleaning out spare seeds and watering and the like. The vet seemed faintly exasperated about the situation, muttering something about birds that reproduced like rabbits, but seemed unconcerned, otherwise. The parent birds seemed to be doing an okay job of handling the situation.
"But can I see?" Zack had asked.
The vet shrugged and waved toward the cage, telling him that, so long as he didn't disturb anything or stare for too long, he was welcome to have a peek.
And so, Zack did.
"... Ew."
Hey, nobody had said that baby finches were pretty.
