Trooper Station; Monday [12/31].
Rosa hadn’t been to work in a week, due to hightailing it up to New York the second all that snowman crap was over, so she was expecting some paperwork to be waiting for her when she got in. But the fact that she couldn’t even see her desk for the piles of folders and paper sitting on it was a little excessive, even for this place.
“Really, you guys?” she asked the troopers, giving a futile gesture toward the desk. “You couldn’t have maybe helped out just a little bit?”
Ralph shrugged. “We figured….what’s the point? Whenever we try to help, you just get mad at us and yell at us for doing it wrong, and then you have to redo it all over again. So we thought, this way, we get to skip at least three steps and just leave it for you to get it right the first time.”
Rosa...kind of hated that she couldn’t argue with the logic in that. She narrowed her eyes, wondering about just when they suddenly got all reasonable and everything. She sucked in a breath and then huffed it out in a sigh.
“You’re right,” she said, “you guys do really suck at this. But now I’m starting to wonder if you suck so much on purpose.”
Give it a few days, Rosa, when they’ll offer up something that will remind you that, no, no. They’re way too stupid to ever manage to be that smart.
