Some of the plants in the store were still humming. Not the newly-arrived shipment of carnivorous plants, though. Those were yawning and occasionally snapping their leaf jaws shut with an audible, almost mechanical sounding snap that Octavia was pretty sure shouldn't have sounded quite like that.

She was spending half her day on making notes for herself on what to google about biomechanic plants later. Just in case that was a thing, and these weren't just particularly strong individuals.
