The Perk; Monday Afternoon [09/02].
Eventually, Shunsui actually got up that day and felt a small pang of maybe going and doing something productive, which was a rare and strange thing as it was, but it was also Monday, and he knew Summer-chan would be handling the store today, and he really didn't want to bother with any of that, anyway, so he figured what he would do is grab some paper and a pen and his biggest sake bottle and head on over to the Perk to get some...erm, work done, he supposed.
He was here to write a book, after all. And that's what writers did, didn't they? They went to coffee shops, and that's where they wrote! It was worth a try.
He wasn't a big fan of coffee, so he brought his own drink and, just to be festive, did buy a small cup of pumpkin spice flavoring, which he was experimentally and occassionally pouring into his small cups of sake.
It wasn't...terrible.
But Shunsui was not typically picky, as long as sake was involved.
And then he got to work.
He set out his papers, spent a ridiculous amount of time organizing his stuff around the table so it was just right, and then set his pen to the paper for that first, stirring line:
Chapter One, he wrote.
Beautiful. Perfect!
No. Wait.
He leaned in and crossed it out.
Prologue, he wrote instead.
Much better! And he beamed and poured a little sake, a little pumpkin spice, into his cup and took a well-deserved sip for all the great hard work he had already accomplished.
[[ even though I'm about to plunge into work-related SP, I realized that Shunsui's the only one of my pups on-island not actively involved any anything and, while that totally make sense, it makes me twtichy, lol, idk, so here, have a perk! Which is so definitely open for all your perkly needs! ]]

And he smiled when her gaze founds its way to his table. "Hello, my lovely fellow patron of this fine caffeinated establishment ♥!" he called out, and then waved her over with both hands. "Come! Join me ♥! You're just in time, as I am in desperate need of a muse ♥!"
no subject
"I'm not much of a muse, I'm afraid," she said. "But I can see that you're struggling a bit."
She might not be muse material, but Breq didn't mind a conversation over a cup of tea, and even if she ended up having to read bad poetry, well, she had done that before. She took a seat.

Not that he'd realize it, of course.
"That is exactly the sort of a thing I'd expect for a muse to say ♥," Shunsui said, beaming all the more. "I don't think we've yet had the pleasure of meeting ♥. My name is Shunsui Kyōraku ♥ And what may I call you? I'm afraid Brilliant and Beautiful Muse of my Next Greatest Epic Novel is a bit unwieldy ♥."
And yet, now that he said it outloud, he was honestly thinking of keeping it.
"And would you like some sake ♥?" He gestured toward the jug at his side. "I'm spicing it with pumpkin today, as is apparently a local tradition around this time of year ♥."

She hoped he would see the point in using her short and not at all unwieldy name.
"And thank you, but I'll stick to tea. I'm not sure they mix well."
She knew what sake was, hadn't tried it, but doubted that pumpkin spiced-alcohol would be better than the tea.
"I didn't know they served sake here."

"And they don't ♥," he added, and threw a wink across the shop toward the barista, who was still sort of shaking her head at him in mild disbelief. "I've brought my own ♥. And I can assure you on good authority," meaning, his own, "that tea and sake actually go wonderfully together, so if you change you mind, by all means, I will be more than happy to oblige, lovely Breq-chan ♥."
no subject
"Thank you," she said again. "I'll let you know if I change my mind."
Here she smiled. "And I hope you'll find your muse."
no subject
"Now, then....." He titled his head at his paper, and then turned a grin up toward Breq, "where to begin ♥? Shall we start with this wonderful and delictible tea of yours that I am to believe is somehow even more enticing than the sweet nectar that is free sake ♥?"

She preferred not to be in that poem, but by now she doubted it would be finished, so:
"I just prefer to stay sober this time of day."
