Fandom had remained blessedly placid for another week, so Hernando opened the shop again. The art on the walls was an homage to Lorenzo Lotto and in pride of place was 'Portrait of an Elderly Gentleman with Gloves'. Many of the paintings were his portrait series concentrating on artists though a few of his religion-themed works were interspersed. Hernando smiled and admired them a moment. The man was known for his use of light and color, two things guaranteed to captivate Professor Fuentes. He gave the counter a small pat of approval as he walked past.

The pastry selection was already out, the tiny chalkboards having marched to their places and giving the occasional hop of excitement. There were creamcakes, mini tarts, frosted and chocolate madeleines, macrons, petit fours, miniature cupcakes - Rosalie's, of course, and a small tray of chocolate dipped fruit. The savory items seemed to be sandwiches cut into small bites as well as a selection of mini pumpkin muffins cut in half with a small scoop of chicken salad between the muffintop and base. Hernando gave them a curious glance and tried one. The noise of approval he made caused the little chalkboard sign to hop up and down with glee.

The Specials board rattled. He smiled at it, "Ready for duty again, my friend? Alright. Let's see what you've decided for the day."

"Is it a special occasion?" Hernando wondered, "It seems we are being quite fancy today." The shop, nor the sign, answered. He gave a shrug and took the sign outside to the storefront.

Returning inside, he made himself a cup of the Chai Masala and enjoyed it with another pumpkin muffin.
