"Right," Miguel said, "So apparently disaster movies are a thing. You wouldn't think they'd be big on an island as big a disaster as this, but whatever. They were really big in the 1970s, and the one that really started it is called Airport. It's based off a book, and it's all about a guy trying to bring down an airplane. Should be nice and violent." Yeah, he'd figured out his audience.
"So anyway, here it is."
Enjoy what was... definitely not that movie.

But now? She had to admit a significant point of pride that Miguel already knew which way the wind was blowing. He was a smart one, though, she'd never had even a moment of doubt.

torturing blacksmithsattending these movie night things last week, but that nice little surge back to the past by a couple of millenia sort of threw a wakazashi in that plan, didn't it? But he was around (and lucid) this weekand screw work, everybody in the pool!, purusing over the snacks for a moment while bypassing the drinks in favor of the one he, of course, brought with him, and wondering how to perhaps best bring it up to Movie Class-chan how he still hadn't had a chance ot thank her for that whole Squishy machine thing that he had only conveniently managed to remember about because Apu-san had said she'd been involved at some point...Re: Sign in!
Re: Watch the movie
Seivarden put a popcorn in her mouth, prepared to complain through the movie.
Re: Watch the movie
No, that was the sequel."Airplane," Amaya corrected, with a know-it-all sort of tone that was spoiled slightly by her snort. But, really, a part of her actually was sort of proud to be able to know what an airplane even was, all things considered. "Those never even manage to make it into space. So...just...an air shuttle."
Which she knew Seivarden would have been able to put that together herself, sure, but why not open the door to some quality complaining when she had the chance?
Re: Watch the movie
Yes, she had known.
Re: Watch the movie
"Maybe not this one," she amended after a moment, "but I think that's the point."
Re: Watch the movie
Seivarden snorted too.
"I suppose there has been worse plots in Earth movies."

Re: Watch the movie
"I will give you the explosions," she allowed. "I've yet to see any Earth movies that do explosions nearly as satisfying, but I'd say the impending doom of all these people we don't really care about is plenty dramatic. Who knows? Maybe they'll make up for it in the end."
Re: Watch the movie
She wanted things to end well, even on useless airplanes.
"There's a new entertainment out set around the time of a famous historical battle," she said.
Re: Watch the movie
"But battles are good!" she said with enthusiasm, figuring she wanted to just switch to something other than blowing up useless airplanes...onto blowing up slightly less useless spaceships. "We'll have to make some time to watch it."
...as if she didn't have way, way, way too much time on her hands right now.
She was trying not to think about that.
Re: Watch the movie
"Oh, we should. I have the apartment to myself and Issa now, by the way, so we don't have to worry about Peter."
She never had. She also didn't mean it in the way it could be interpreted, strangely enough, because she actually really wanted to watch that entertainment, and she was tired of doing it alone.
There was another new one that Amaya wouldn't like. She should invite Tisarwat for that.
Re: Watch the movie
Her expression may have shifted a little, and she blinked, shaking any more thinking on down that path away.
But despite her brain's best attempts to move away from it, her mouth just kept on going anyway.
"Bet that's a bit of an adjustment," her mouth said, "not having him around anymore. How do you like it?"
Re: Watch the movie
She missed Peter.

as far as I can remember. "...the flower shop?"Either way, no matter what shop, if it meant something to keep herself busy, she would be all for it.
Re: Watch the movie
Re: Watch the movie
She would build you so many shelves, Seivarden. So many.
"But what's her actual eyes got to do with anything?"
Of course Amaya'd noticed they were an unusual color, sure, especially since they'd seemed to be focused on Amaya rather intently any time they talked (which Amaya just dismissed as her being a very attentive sort, really, because what else could it be?), but other than that...
Re: Watch the movie
Seivarden smiled. "Your help will be much appreciated."
She hadn't expected Amaya to say no.
Re: Watch the movie
This was...sort of putting it into perspective that Tisarwat had seemed to be particularly invested in color of Amaya's own eyes, which she just sort of chalked up to more Radchaai stuff that she'd never really quite be able to fully understand.
Re: Watch the movie
Surely Amaya could see that.
Re: Watch the movie
Since apparently she could just change it, and Amaya was pretty sure Seivarden wasn't speaking of magically altering them, either.
"And, since they're her eyes, that's all that matters, isn't it? That she liked them?"
Also...they were eyes. Only time she'd ever had a discussion this particular about eyes was having to do with the Knight's tournament challenge of obtaining the eye of a hideous beast, which was quite a bit different.
Re: Watch the movie
Re: Watch the movie
"Such as?" she ventured, thinking that if Tisarwat stuck with the eyes, then she must have been okay with that assumption, all things considered.
But she didn't really know the kid very well...
...depsite the kid's best efforts to get to know her.
Re: Watch the movie
Seivarden was making a few assumptions herself, since she didn't know how fashion had changed. She made a gesture with her hand.
"I just think those eyes give the wrong impression. She's a good kid, and smart. It's good to have her on the island."
