The Perk, Friday afternoon

The problem when you were a workaholic and your best friend was officially your Empress and your boss (well, one third of the boss pool, at least) was that she could actually force you to take the holiday weekend she knew you had been needing for months.

And then before you know it you're spending the weekend in the tiny, weird town you went to high school in and then served as a base for your attempts to find your destroyed universe. And also you seemed to be coming down with something considering how much you were sneezing.

The point is, Jessica made it to the island and needed some coffee, and the Perk was right here by the causeway, so she went straight there for sustenance.

"Earth coffee," she ordered. "I just need some classic bean juice, from this galaxy, to remind me what actual joy tastes like." She was cool with space life. It suited her. But caf was a disgrace. The "feine" was the most important syllable, as it turned out.

Once the barista handed over her drink with a phone number written on the cup, Jessica settled in at a table by the window, took off her space military jacket, and started people watching through the window. And she considered that baristas had apparently gotten a lot more forward since the last time she had been in town.

[OOC: I had a day off planned and a weekend with a little bit of free time, so I figured why not bring Jess back to town for a certain thing happening tomorrow? I'll be in and out a little all day, but please, open for SP!]

There were a few major downsides to Atton not being here all the time, which was that Sia couldn't have texted and told him she was coming by and had him say "don't you dare, nothing good happens this week."

Anyway, Sia knew what this was and also she should stop thinking about Atton now.

...Now.

Once she'd settled in, she also found her way over here, because that was sort of what you did. She got her drink- caf was still better, thank you- and took a seat across from her. "Anything interesting?"

Sia peered at it. "Is it an incomplete 8?"

Sia eyed her.

"Really?"

If this was Jessica's reaction to pollen while Sia continually made dubious life choices...

You know, she was going to see how long thjs took.

"Or she's not looking for a relationship."

"You need to expand your type," Sia told her. "You did just wink at her."

Apparently she was encouraging this. Okay.

"Entirely possible," Sia said evenly, nodding.

Her poker face was next level.

"It's absolutely the pollen," Sia confirmed, sipping her drink. "Our timing is terrible."

Her timing always seemed to be terrible there. Weird.

"And what are you going to do when you run out of coffee?"

This was important.
