Luke's, Thursday
Duke swung by the school's administrative offices on his way into work this morning, to handwavily finalize some plans for the break week next week. (Anakin would treat Larceny well. He seemed like the kind of guy who could roll with the punches.) He was feeling fairly proud of himself for that one (and for dodging the moose while arranging that one). Which was nice, because he wasn't feeling super proud about his other mission for the morning.
"Sardines," said Greg.
"Fresh sardines."
"And anchovies."
"That's right." Duke nodded. "They don't have to be in the same dish."
"Why did you --"
"I don't know, okay?!" Duke threw his hands up and sighed. "Sardines and anchovies were the only things biting today. Other than soggy newspaper, seaweed, and six pairs of broken glasses. And something called 'joja cola'."
"Ooo!" Tony said, clapping his hands. "I love Joja! I buy like all my groceries there when I go home. . . . The mayor hates me."
Duke gave him a long look, then opened his cooler and handed him a can. "Here you go then. Fresh caught in the ocean this morning."
"That's the best way to drink it!"
Today's specials
Morroccan baked sardines
Garlic, anchovy, and olive spaghetti
Luke's was open.
[if the squirrels want to report Duke's handwavey trip to the school office, that's fine, but details of that (sketchy as they are in this post) are NFB, please!]
