Trooper Station; Monday [04/20].

"What's this?" asked Rosa, who almost didn't want to ask, but Ralph and Calvin had both come over and dropped some brochures on her desk and were now just standing there, looking at her expectantly, so she knew she wasn't going to get rid of them until she did ask.

"We want you to be our tie-breaker on a new vending machine for the station," Ralph (or was it Calvin?) explained.

"The troopers are pretty much split," Calvin (or was it Ralph?) continued. "Between the increadible artisan seafood ball machine that I want, or the much more lame pizza dispensing one that this," he hitched a thumb over to Ralph (or was it Calvin?), "guy wants."

"It cooks the pizza right in the machine for you!" he enthused. As well as someone in a voice modulating helmet could enthuse anyway.

"So you need to make the deciding vote," the other said. "We gathered all the proper literature, and we hope you'll give it a good review and make the best decision for the entire station."

Rosa quirked her brows at them, looked doubtfully into their helmet-faces, and asked, "And you ran this by the boss already....right?"

There was an awkward silence. One of them (she thought it was Ralph) leaned over to point at one of the brochures, "Mine does burritos, too!"

"Did you," said Rosa, a little more slowly now so that they could keep up, "run this by the boss already?"

One of them (maybe Calvin?) made a very clearly fake static sound and looked with apparent surprise at his comm, and then lifted it to his helmet and pretended to make a clearly fake directive to a bunch of suspicious woodchuck activity out by the lightouse, and they needed reinforcements and back-up right away. "Oh, man," he commisserated, "duty calls! But you'll look those over and let us know what you think, right?"

"Yeah," murmured Rosa, "sure....

"Do you even eat?" she called out after them, once they'd reached the door, and then promptly gathered the brochures and rolled her chair on over to the paper shredder, where she very pointedly turned them into brochure confetti.

[[ open! loosely based on the C-plot in B99 S07, E08 "The Takeback." Blanket SP warning on all my kiddos now, though, because they threw my schedule off this week and so while that means I don't have to spit out all my posts at five o'clock in the morning, I do now have to disappear with limited computer access, boo hiss ]]
