Duke hadn't been back to the Rouge yet. As far as he knew, Octavia was still there, trying to bludgeon her way through the hold, and he couldn't deal with her yet.

He also couldn't deal with staying in the hotel, once he was awake and sober enough to move. He needed coffee if he was going to have to deal with literally anything today, and the Perk felt weirdly more public than his diner did.

Sure, this was the first place his trouble had been triggered in Fandom. The very first day he'd owned it, even. Somehow that just ended up feeling appropriate, today.

Vanilla berry waffles
Mac and cheese waffles
Kitchen sink dessert waffles

Luke's was open, if not particularly festive, today.

Duke debated asking. For a long, long time. He made it through an entire plate of dessert waffles, wondering if he even had a right to ask.
