Around Town, Wednesday Afternoon
Beau had a splatter of green paint across one cheek, several more locks of hair than usual falling out of her topknot, and a ferally delighted grin on her face.
She'd just been out on a run around town (her second of the day, don't judge her) when she came across the paintball war as it happened to start spilling out into town, and a lucky shot from one of the Monday morning gym regulars had grazed her.
So now she was darting all around the place, trying to find pockets of skirmishing and ... maybe hoping to bait people into shooting at her. Look, she was quick and dodgy and could catch arrows out of the air and didn't get much of a chance to do that last thing around here.
So.
"Come on, fuckers, come get me!"
Hey, at least paintballs counted as nonlethal damage, so she wasn't going to end up having to make death saving throws again Which should be a relief to the several people who weren't a fan of watching her get her ass knocked out in a fight again. And hey, your one 6HP heal per day ability was safe this time, Yasha.
[OOC: So open! I wanted to play with Beau's canon Deflect Missiles ability, so I figured it would be easier to just make one post rather than have to explain it a million times.
So this is how it works, adapted for Fandom purposes: I'm going to roll a d10 and add 10 to the result to determine how much "damage" she can attempt to negate in reaction to a shot. Then, because I am not figuring out attack/damage modifier stats for all of you, I'll roll 3d12 to see how much "damage" you do, with a bonus of 10 if your character is a marksman. If that total beats the first one, it's a hit, otherwise she gets to swat the paintball out of the air and try to throw it back/ricochet it at you because D&D monks are ridiculous. I'll assume your shots are on target unless you specify that they're not.
Yes, I am absolutely rolling for this and will give results in an OOC note. Yes, I have enough dice at my work desk to do it. Yes, I put way too much thought into it.]

"Welcome... to the Thundah Dome!" he shouted, holding his paintball gun in the air.
Because heck yeah, other person who was gonna take this way too seriously and use those dice rolls to break people's psyches. Mostly the DM's.

using the stats from his short bowbefore rolling an 18.You know, this was easier when there was a DM telling him armor classes all the time.
no subject
So, there was a disgruntled blonde girl in a tree, who'd happily take a cheap shot at Beau, if she was going to ask for it.
no subject
She put out a hand to swat at the paintball -- and was a split second too late, because it got her squarely in the collarbone.
"Oh, you asshole," she said almost cheerfully.
[[Rolled a 13 for Beau's Deflect Missiles against an 18!]]>

And had rolled a natural 1 on perception, so you had a nice clear shot too, Illyana!
no subject
"This is more Nott's thing," she muttered, but shrugged and brought it up to aim. "Pop pop, motherfucker!"
[[And rolled a dirty 20 to hit, even with no proficiency bonus.]]
no subject
So, yes, that’d be a paintball coming Beau’s way as Jules poked her head up from the bush she was using for cover.
no subject
But the attack roll on that was only a twelve this time around. "Did you see that?! That was so sick!"
no subject
"That was a warmup," she yelled in the general direction of where she thought the shot had come from.
Sure.
[[lol for the record I rolled a 19 to Jules's 30.]]
no subject
... and also rolled a 12, go figure.
no subject
"I've got this magic glove," he said, waving that hand all John Cena-like before catching it again with an enthusiastic, "Huh-pah!"
Oh, ouch, this attack roll was a 7. Look, sometimes the dice weren't on his side.
"So you have a magic glove too?"
Talking, as we all know, was a free action in the middle of all this.
no subject
And then immediately firing off a second shot, to try and take advantage of her sneak attack.
no subject
Beauregard.
Too bad about that 18 attack roll with a non-magical ranged attack, huh? Might've been enough if she had proficiency, but nope.
no subject
"Oh riiiiight. The monk thing. Man, I knew I should have learned magic," he said, catching it again. They were just playing paintball hot potato at this point.
Ouch, a ten on this one. Maybe he'd accidentally gotten Merle's dice?
no subject
"Not gonna lie, it wouldn't hurt," she admitted. "But I've got some cool shit."
This is not how you paintball, kids.
no subject
"You wanna show me some cool stuff and I'll show you cool stuff?"
no subject
no subject
And Beau dropped the paintball gun, did a fancy spin, and then just threw another one at him.
Monks.
no subject
The second shot
with a roll of 29caught her in the side as she was spinning, trying to see where the first one had come from. This wasn't much like holding off a bunch of gnolls in a doorway, huh? Whoops.
no subject
on matching rolls of 24!Beau got a hand up and intercepted the paintball just barely before it would have burst open on impact -- somewhat to her surprise, if the split second of her eyes going wide was any indication.A quick use of her ki energy to sort of tweak the momentum of the projectile, and the paintball was flying back at Adora with a pretty decent amount of accuracy.
no subject
Keeping the shield up she fired another quick burst of shots around it. She couldn't aim as well like this but Beau only had two hands to block with, right?
no subject
Yeah. Yeah it was. Look, she was war-gifted, not stealth-gifted. Also firing off another shot because that declaration sounded a hell of a lot like a challenge, to her.
no subject
no subject
What? It was nice to have her weird cool skills appreciated, okay?
"So what do you have to show me?"
no subject
But she apparently hadn't been spotted yet, so she fired off a third shot to push her luck before she had to teleport away.
no subject
It ... looked like it had a decent chance of at least hitting the shrubbery?
[[Beau's 14 roll juuuuuust edged out Jules's 13 this time!]]
no subject
Because multi-classing was the shit.
no subject
She batted the first shot aside, took the second on the chin, and might've caught the third if she hadn't been gawking at the sword. "Dude, that's dope."
Which probably left her an easy target for the next shot.
no subject
Look, clarifying the rules of sneak attack at least once per session was practically required.
no subject
Because where was the GM when you needed them? Was this the point where they spent half an hour looking at the Player's Handbook and then ordered a pizza while people argued and rules lawyered?
