The Perk- Wednesday morning

Rey almost went to the beach, just to see if Duke showed up, and mostly because she really did want to fix things. At the same time if he was still picking fights and telling her to fuck off then that wasn't going to happen so instead she ended up at the Perk.

Which actually turned out to be lucky for her because as soon as she walked in they announced that there were only so many days before the start of peppermint mocha season, and therefore all pumpkin spice lattes were free today. All right, so now she had a pumpkin spice latte and a table.

Lucille entered the Perk while Rey was ordering, and for a second she considered a free pumpkin spice latte, but she quickly decided against it and ordered her usual tea.

"Is that a favourite?" she asked Rey. "The pumpkin spice latte."

"I like it," Rey answered. "And it seems to be a bit of a seasonal phenomenon here."

"I've noticed," Lucille said. "I admit I am not always adventurous when it comes to drinks."

"What's your usual, then?" Rey asked.

[crimson_sister]

"Tea," she said. "A habit from home."

Silver was not getting a PSL, but he was getting a regular coffee. It was cold out and he hated it.

"Good morning."

"That seems to be a popular thing around here," Rey noticed. "At home everyone seems to run for the caf."

[thatwaslucky]

"Morning," she said with a smile. "How are you?"

"Cold," he replied. "I hate this."

[thatwaslucky]

"You are really not going to enjoy winter," she said, sympathetic.

[long_memory]

"Oh you will not hear the end of my complaining," he said. "Mind if I sit?"

"People like things that remind them from home, perhaps," Lucille suggested. "Caf? I haven't heard of that."

"Of course," she said, pushing the seat out for him with her foot. "And I'm fine with complaining, I'll be doing plenty of it myself."

And then you'd see her in four layers and a coat three sizes too big for her.

"It's like coffee, but better."

It was the truth. Star Wars characters seemed to agree on this.

"I don't drink coffee so I probably wouldn't know," Lucille said. "Where are you from?"

"Right, desert planet," he said, still feeling a bit odd saying that. He took a seat, leaning his crutch against the edge of the table. "We can be miserable together then."

"If it helps, there's usually a single day where we get fireplaces in our homes," Rey said lightly.

"A planet called Jakku. No ones heard of it." A lot of people from her galaxy hadn't even heard of it. "I kind of live all over now, though."

"Just the one day? That's a little cruel," Silver said. "Just to tease us with what we are missing."

[thatwaslucky]

"It really is. We're more or less left to our own devices the rest of the time," she said.

[long_memory]

"I could hope I'll get used to it but it's doubtful," Silver said, sighing. "How have you been aside from the cold?"

[thatwaslucky]

"All right. Feel like I should be on the beach right now," she admitted. "Mostly I've been enjoying a few days of quiet."

[crimson_sister]

"I haven't heard of your homeworld either," Lucille replied. "I'm from Earth. It is rare that I know of other planets, at least inhabited ones outside this solar system."

"I'm sure something will come along to make things weird soon enough," Silver said. "I will say at least this place doesn't allow time for you to get bored."

"Is that good or bad?" Rey asked.
