Community Center Class: Castletopia: A Castle For You! For You? For You!!! | Monday
Despite this being a construction class, today they were in one of the community center rooms, with tables set up with plenty of graph paper, white boards, and pencils and pens (in all sorts of colours). There was also coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available to drink, should anyone want it, since it was an evening class and people had to come down to the community center for it.
Actually, the hot drinks were going to be a thing all semester because… well. They'd be building. Outside. At night.
Nina herself had an apple cider. Teacher's privilege.
An entire year ago, Nina had been anxiously staring down the barrel of her very first class and, like, now she all but bounced with anticipation. She didn't bounce too much though because she didn't want her crown to bounce right off her head. In her hand she held a wand (though she was going to call it a scepter should anyone comment on it).
She waited patiently until it looked like there wouldn't be anyone showing up and then, with a wave of her wand, shut the door. (You'd have to look super closely at the wand, but she'd added tiny silver lettering in an ancient tongue to be able to manage that feat.)
"Good evening," she said brightly. "Welcome to Castletopia!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm Queen Nina and, like, we know all of you," this was probably true, even if just from squirrels, "and we're so glad you could attend this session!!!!!!!!!!!"
Yes, yes that was the royal 'we'.
"The school board, like, was super unkeen on the idea of a coup d'état to reclaim our castle," Nina informed them all with a heavy sigh that disappeared almost the moment it showed up. "So, upon reflection, as pursuing that would lead to needless bloodshed," would it really?, "we've decided upon a new way to go forward!!!!!!!!!!!! Building our own castle!!!!!!!!!!!!
"And, of course, to build a castle we absolutely must know who will be assisting our royal person with the work!!!!!!!!!!!! Please, introduce yourselves with your proper titles------are you a Baron? An Earl?? A Marquis??? Or perchance are you a merchant???? A peasant????? Royalty from a neighbouring country??????"
What? You'd thought there wouldn't be some level of role-playing in this class? Well that was just a silly thing to expect when castles were involved.
"Once we've been informed as to who everyone is this semester, we'll begin with the very first step of the process of building our new home: designing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
