Eric came into the bar in time to see Tiny trying to find a spot for an absolutely enormous bottle of Galliano. "That stuff tastes horrible," Eric told him, making a face.

Tiny rumbled out a question.

"It would be even more horrible in a daiquiri," Eric told him.

The Devil's Nest was open! Harvey Wallbangers were on special if you were feeling in a 1970s mood.

There would probably be Galliano in it, even if you didn't ask for any. The bottle was almost as tall at Tiny.

"Harvey Wallbanger," Nick scoffed when he came in. "More like Harvey..."

Oh no he had nothing.

"...Suckbanger, am I right?"

Nice save, Nick, very cool.

Eric gave him a long, long, unblinking look. "Would you like to go out, come back in and try again?" he asked.

"Nah. Trust me, I can't do better," Nick said, shaking his head. Totally unbothered here. "Not a mixed drinks guy."

"Please be a 'drinking straight Galliano' guy," Eric said.

No one was that guy.

"Not unless Galliano is a fancy beer and even then no," Nick said. "What's with the giant bottle?"

"I've found it better to just pretend Tiny didn't screw up," Eric said. "The huge bottle is Galliano."

It was so, so yellow, this drink. Radioactive yellow.

Nick looked over at it again.

"You couldn't pay me enough to drink that straight. It looks like a urine sample from someone who just had an X-Ray turned up way too high."

"Tastes like it, too."

You are really selling this, Eric.

"That's what you give people when they're just trying to get drunk and don't notice what they're drinking anymore."

Nick. Nick. That will be you at some point.

Eric smirked. "Well, the color makes it harder, but yes, we'll do that."

"There is definitely a drunk point where the color won't matter," Nick said.

Not that he would serve anyone at that point. However, he'd be the one doing the bad idea drinking.

"And Tiny, being a professional who is also the reason we have this stupidly large bottle of shit, will thread that needle masterfully," Eric said, giving Tiny a pointed look. "What other drink can Tiny get you in the meantime?"

"Just a beer. I'm a simple man, who's playing it safe more now than ever," he said.

"Beer with absolutely no personality for this man, Tiny," Eric said with a grin. "Why are you playing it safe?"

"Because the alternative is that," Nick said, gesturing at the Galliano.

"Oh, you're getting some of that eventually," Eric said.

"No, I'm not. And you know why?"

Obvious answer was probably obvious.

"Because you're not getting drunk enough to drink something that color?" Eric guessed.

"Exactly! I'm playing it safe." The Nick Miller motto to life. "See, you get it."

"Only a little," Eric said, grinning. "I never play it safe. I'm Eric."
