Luke's Diner, Saturday
When Miguel got in today, it seemed suspiciously normal. And it smelled good.
"Bacon Day!" the cook declared, throwing up his hands. Miguel dove for the bacon that went flying when he did. And ate it. What? It hadn't hit anything yet.
"Great, good. What about the vegetarians; haven't we been doing things for them, too?"
"There's veggie bacon," the cook declared stubbornly.
Miguel was unconvinced, but hey, he wouldn't be eating it.
Today's Specials
Bacon cheeseburger (vegan available)
Bacon and eggs (vegetarian available)
Chocolate pecan pie (sorry, it needs the eggs; try some sorbet!)
Luke's was open!

So, you know, she figured no one was going to have an issue with the dog in the diner. Especially since it looked like they'd both picked a very good time to drop in.
"Bacon day?" she asked, without even having seen the specials board yet. But, you know. She was a detective. She was very good at detecting. Especially when that detecting involved bacon.

Look, the burger was a given. He might not be a detective, but he did know Rosa.

A joke? A disparaging comment on the general quality of the food? An actual request?
Yes.

He got her a coffee. "How's the day going?"

Was it bad that Rosa was looking down at Anna, yawning and settling underneath the stool after her very exciting day with thoughtful consideration?
But she didn't say anything more about it as she turned back and shrugged. "Went to the park. She made a new friend."
Which basically meant she existed in the space of another dog and its owner without too much incident or annoying conversation.

And definitely a fondness in the glance down toward the dog that looked back up at her with a doleful look, for the fact that she was definitely smelling bacon but was still not eating any.
"She's okay."
High praise from Rosa, though.

A dog that he was absolutely going to sneak a bit of bacon to, yes.

"I'd take the dog over most people," she pointed out, "easily."

Awww. She didn't even try to deny it!

"The rest of the world couldn't keep up."
Her order was set on the pass-through, and Miguel slid it over to her.
