Community Center Class: Chopped: Fandom. Tuesday Evening [10/18].

“We ate a lot of very good food last week, in France,” Stark told the class once everyone had arrived. “Very fancy foods. Every day.”

"But that," said Summer (perhaps a bit ominously, but, well, you knew what this class was when you signed up for it….probably), "is over now. There will be nothing fancy in this room this evening. Behold! Your inspiration!"

Summer removed the cloche and really wished there could have been a dramatic and timely peal of thunder and lighting just then, as she revealed not one, not two, but three Doritos-inspired cupcakes.

Well, okay, two Doritos and one Cheetos. All stoner snack foods are the same color in the dark.

"Please," she said, "feel free to try some cupcakes to better inspire you."

You knew you wanted to.

Stark, for his part, just sighed. He did not want to try the cupcakes. He didn’t really want to try anything inspired by the cupcakes but he knew what he was signing up for when he agreed to this plan in the first place.

"Also," Summer added, ~~assuming he was there~~, "Goose, if you get a chance, please come see me after class."

Yes, this was a community center class of mostly adults, but Summer would be disappointed if that didn't inspire at least a small chorus of oooooooohs from the students.

"Your time begins.....now!"

Like you've got the munchies.

In your basket, you will find a bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos, a bag of Flamin' Hot Cheetos, a bottle of Mountain Dew, a jug of apple cider, and a bag of shredded cheddar cheese. All of which must be used in some way, shape, or form.

Stark was going to be so judgey if you used those ingredients to make a drink. So judgey and so full of regret.

Who were surprisingly not high when they made these choices, although they might be wishing they were.

Connor Temple

"So...." Connor ventured as he looked over the basket. "We have to actually turn them into something else right? I mean it looks like a cohesive snack already- maybe minus the cider," he said with a small smirk.

What? He knew good munchies when he saw them!

"The whole point of the class, Connor," Summer reminded him, "is to challenge your creativity to transform and elevate the ingredients. I mean, you totally could just present them as a cohesive snack, but that would be incredibly lame of you."

Oh, yeah, Summer was clearly there, especially if your name was Goose, and she may be taking notes for the next time she got really, really wasted.

Stark was, in fact, kind of wishing he was in some sort of altered state right now.

But he was there and available for talking.

"Just seems a bit of a shame to go am mess with such a near-perfect classic," he said with a laugh. "But I'm sure I can come up with... something..." he muttered as he tried to think of what to make.

"Next time Chiana visits," Summer informed Stark at some point, "we are hanging out again and I am so totally making these."

A promise? A threat? You decide!

"On purpose?" Stark asked. "To eat? On purpose?"

He was taking it as a threat, clearly.

"I'll tell her. She might want to hear about France. And the wedding."

And she'd be very interested in the dancing portion of the latter.

"I'm telling you, man," Summer insisted, "if we were high right now, this stuff would totally blow your mind.

"And don't forget," she added, "to mention the suit," she was still very proud of all that, thank you, "if you do tell her about all that."

"I'll try them if we do that again," Stark said, very unwisely. He ought to know better. But Summer was probably right.

"I'll tell her about the suit. I didn't take pictures." Stark had not mastered the art of the selfie ~~and someone belatedly realized there had been a missed photo booth opportunity~~.

"Oh, I'm sure I managed to snap a few," Summer insisted,already pulling out her phone to check, but it might be a while, she took a lot of them, somehow, even with everything else going on.

And yes, most of them were selfies, but she had to give each dress equal amounts of selfie love!

Of course Summer took a lot! Otherwise how would the event have been properly documented?

"I'm sure she'd like to see a picture. Or more than one." And Chiana would also make several comments about the suit. And about Summer’s various outfits.

"I think she'd like to come back again, sometime. She did seem to enjoy herself. And she liked you. Of course she liked you."

"I am pretty easy to like," Summer agreed, in defiance of probably mountains of evidence otherwise, but she was distracted right now by her phone and shifting through her photos and having to admit that she really had been killing it with those dresses, huh? "But so is she. Let her know that if she ever needs a place to crash that isn't yours, I'll totally hook her up."

"You're very easy to like." That was skirting the edge of things that ought not to be said but it wasn't like Stark was paying attention.

"I'll tell her. But she might just appear one day." And then where would they be?

"Did you find a picture? Did we take a picture?"

"I don't think we got a picture," Summer admitted, which felt like a major oversight on her part, but whatever, she was going to blame the open bar. "But I did get one of you talking to the briiiiide." Summer turned her phone toward Stark so he could see, and then slid over to the previous picture. "And one of you looking just a little lost."

Which, to be fair, could possibly be just considered him in his natural state.

"She looked beautiful," Stark said approvingly at the first photo. "And...I do look lost. I think I look that way often." He definitely did.

"We'll just have to take a picture together the next time we both look that nice. Although I don't know when that would be. But it would be a shame to only wear the suit once."

"Annie," Summer declared, because it simply could not be understated, "was perfection. And it really would be a shame. Next big fancy thing is probably going to be New Year's. You'll definitely be way overdressed in that if you wore it to the Christmas rager, and, besides, then you'll just get it covered all in glitter."

"Isn't there usually glitter at New Year's too? There's glitter so often here. But no, no suit to your Christmas party. Maybe a new sweater?" Stark mused. Or a t-shirt printed to look like an ugly sweater. He wasn't sure he wanted to wear the same one again. It was shoved down somewhere with a number of other clothing items he wasn't sure about wearing again.

"But you're right. About Annie. And she seems very happy. Is she that happy? I don't...we haven't talked. In a long time. But I hope she's as happy as she seems."

Steve was making mac and cheese! Steve was going to be so full of regrets.

Goose ~~who had totally been there the whole time and the mun didn’t forget to sign him in~~ approached Summer after class.

“You ..uh wanted to see me?” he couldn’t help but feel like he was in trouble.

"Goose!" Would the excited tone of Summer's voice help ease his concerns a little bit? And, yeah, yeah, it might have been a little cruel to make him sweat it out throughout class, but it was good for him. Or something.

"Hey, yeah, no, I just had a quick question." Which could have been probably asked before class instead of after, but what fun was that?

"Do you still have all that karaoke stuff from your birthday party?"

"Well, of course there's always the threat of glitter," Summer agreed, "but New Year's doesn't usually have glitter cannons."

God, she loved those glitter cannons.

"And believe me," the emphasis on the next statement went a little more serious, her smile softening significantly, "Annie is happier now that she has been in a very long time, and she deserved every ounce of it and more. I honestly don't think I could possibly express just how glad I am for her that all this worked out so well."

“Karaoke?” Goose blinked a bit, relaxing slightly since it didn’t sound like he was in trouble, because he had forgotten that karaoke had been a thing he had done.

“I think so?” he tilted his head, “I think it’s all still in the spare bedroom?” he paused, “do you want it back?”

Summer would be kind of curious, actually, what Goose could have possibly imagined he'd be in trouble for...

"Oh, no," Summer shook her head. "It's totally yours, you should keep it, I just want to borrow it this weekend for a..." She looked briefly to her left, then again to her right, checking for squirrels, before leaning in to whisper, "a secret event."

"I'm glad she's happy. She Mi>should be happy." Stark would prefer if all of his friends were happy. One was a very good start.

"You still have your glitter cannons then? Should I be worried? Or skip the party? I don't want to get shot. Even just a little."

It was Goose after all, he was just likely to figure that he had done something and it had gotten him in trouble.

Goose looked intrigued, ”a secret event?” he whispered back, “I mean you can definitely borrow it,” he added, a bit louder, “I haven’t actually used it since the party,” he admitted.

Summer just sort of looked at Goose for a moment and gave him a fond sort of smile.

"Did you mostly just forget it was even there?" she guessed.

Summer's mouth was open almost all the way, ready to insist that Stark was not missing the rager, even if she had to drag him there herself, when that last part hit, and she just paused that expression, which worked for a dramatic gaping at him, before shaking her head.

"Oh, believe me," she stated, "if you're getting shot by me, there isn't going to be anything a little about it."

Was there a joke to be made somewhere about things not being little?

Stark flashed Summer a grin.

"Are you planning on shooting me?"

A pause.

"At your party?"

Goose looked very sheepish, “I did,” he admitted, “my dad stayed in that room while he was here, I’m actually surprised he didn’t say anything about it?”

Commander Walsh was probably too surprised that Goose was staying in an apartment that was actually furnished properly.

"Ohmygoooooood," Summer's eyes went wide. "You guys could have bonded with father-son karaoke! What a fucking waste!"

"Yes."

Summer had her own pause.

"At the party."

Another one.

"If you don't wear an ugly a sweater."

A third pause, significantly ended with an gasp.

"You should wear an ugly Christmas mask!"

You were saying? About someone being easy to like?

“Oh I could have couldn’t I?” even though it would have taken a lot for Walsh to try karaoke , “I probably should have just supplied a lot of alcohol, it would have made trying to explain why there’s a massive food stain on the ceiling a lot easier,” he admitted.

"I don't have an ugly mask," Stark said. "I could get a new sweater. Maybe my stylist could help?"

Why did you to this, Summer? No, wait. Better question: why had Hannibal encouraged you?

Regardless, if you didn't actually mind all the godawful chemicals in these things, the Doritos and cheetos, crushed together, made a fairly decent breading for chicken, and apple cider cheddar bread would make an acceptable accompaniment.

And then, because turnabout was fair play, Mountain Dew jello shots. Which had a lot of alcohol in them, because if nothing else, Hannibal needed a drink now.

Hannibal was somewhat proud he'd managed to hopefully make something edible. Even if it was nothing that he himself would eat.

It was beautifully plated, though.
