The Devil's Nest, Tuesday Night

"You've been making candy vodka."

Tiny nodded.

"Why are you making candy vodka?"

Tiny looked up at him, brows raised.

"Right, fair enough, terrible question," Lucifer agreed. "Give me some of the candy vodka absolutely right this minute."

The Devil's Nest was open, and full of sugar.

Watts hadn't needed Steven for the whole day and Tuesdays were sort of Marc's as far as anything resembling a schedule goes. So come night time Marc headed over to Devil's Nest for a drink because why the hell not?

"Oh, hello," Lucifer called from the counter. "Would you like some candy vodka?"

Probably not, Luce.

Generally speaking no but Marc did wonder, "Is it cold?"

"I think some of it is in the fridge?" Lucifer offered. "I could have Tiny crack out the ice cubes."

Marc waved off the suggestion since that wasn't what he had in mind. "I'm good. I'll take something that tastes like alcohol."

"Your loss," Lucifer said idly. "Tiny? Get him some paint thinner or something."

"No ice," Marc said. He figured let the wiles of Fandom decide if it was actually paint thinner that showed up.

At this point Tiny understood 'paint thinner' to mean 'the bottom-shelf whiskey', and so that was what appeared in front of Marc a few moments later.

"So," Lucifer said, "Has anything interesting happened recently?"

Bottom shelf whiskey was more than fine as far as Marc was concerned. It did, after all, meet his ever so discerning criteria for a regular drink.

"Ended up at a casino on another planet," Marc said. "Didn't even get into a fight."

Did he sound disappointed about that last part? Maybe a little.

"Hm," Lucifer said, sipping his own drink. "That sounds boring."

Marc nodded because it wasn't like Lucifer was wrong. "Had to keep Steven and his boyfriend out of trouble. Not exactly their scene."

For wildly different reasons but there was no need to get into that.

"I'm afraid I can't really rustle up compensatory trouble around here," Lucifer mused, "But the mainland should have something this weekend, no doubt."

Marc looked curious. "What's this weekend?"

[my_own_advocate]

"I don't know, it's a weekend on the mainland, there's always someone fighting," Lucifer said. He gave an idle shrug. "Well, if you know which underground boxing venues to frequent."

Marc had a brief look like he was the kind of guy who tended to know that sort of information and might be filing Lucifer's mention of it away for future reference.

"Got it," he said. "Thought you meant like some kind of asshole event was going on."

You know, like a convention for serial killers or vampires pushing multi level marketing schemes or something. But whose weird canons worlds would have those?

"No, an asshole event would likely either take place in Fandom Park or in one of the warehouses with mood lighting, depending on how literally we take that concept."

"I mean I haven't seen the agenda for what they're doing for Pride," Marc said.

It'd be the least weird thing that had happened on the island, frankly. And that included either interpreting the word to mean donkeys or as the specific body part in question roaming around like the world's most disturbing butterflies.
