The tradition of Ignis throwing himself into his cooking when he was feeling particular distracted and ineffectual was something that had existed since he was very young; in fact, the need to focus on exactly how to recreate for Noctis a particular treat from his childhood was what had sparked his love of cooking in the first place. So, at a time like this, the kitchen was easily the most comfortable place for him, and it was clear that he wanted to throw as much attention into whipping up some food that day, even if things were slow and the only people who really got to enjoy it was himself and the rest of the diner staff.

He also was very intent on a good deal of prep work and vegetable cutting that morning, figuring it might be good practice for if he did, in fact, need to cut Nell free from the plants later when they tried to see if her communing with the earth would yield any new information.
