The Park, Tuesday Afternoon
Not long after her guest had left - terribly tardy, but that couldn't have been helped (okay, it absolutely could have been, she just hadn't wanted to and therefore had actively hindered) - the contractors had shown up to begin the renovations on her ballroom. Liliana had stuck it out for about twenty minutes before scooping Josu up and decamping to town to escape the noise.
A ridiculous coffee order later, she had settled in the park to allow Josu some time to romp and play. But she hadn't liked the way Josu had eyed the flamingos - and, more importantly, she hadn't liked the way they'd eyed him back. Waterbirds were cruel and vicious; she liked them for a reason, but that didn't mean she wanted them anywhere near her cat. Instead, she summoned up a few zombie chipmunks with a wave of her fingers, settling in to read one of her new books while Josu happily chased and pounced on his new undead toys.
