JGoB, Thursday early afternoon

There had been discussion of cheesecake last night and so now Stark was on a mission to procure a cheesecake to share with Summer today. Perhaps he could have gone out earlier in the day but staying in had been too tempting to resist. He slept in so rarely that it was good to take advantage of it when it happened.

He was here now though, looking at the refrigerated case and trying to choose a cheesecake.

"You know what man, why don't you mix it up?" the baker suggested. "Get a few slices of different flavors? You gotta have the classic New York style and then maybe pumpkin and chocolate? But here, try this cheesecake brownie while you make up your mind, yeah?"

Stark wasn't one to turn down baked goods so he nodded and took his cheesecake brownie to a table while he thought about his options.

"You can get 8 slices, ok? Just figure out which ones you want!"

With his errands for the day done, Watts had been taking a walk around the island just to enjoy the very unseasonably warm weather when he spotted Stark through the bakery shop window and decided to head inside.

“Hello, Stark,” he greeted.

Anakin had been home most of the week with a terrible cold--and most imporantly, with two crabby children with terrible colds.

"They hab cheesecakes?" he asked, still a little stuffy.

The weather was nice, wasn't it? too bad some people were stuck inside until well after dark tonight sigh

"Hello, Watts! Looking for a snack? I'm buying cheesecake but I don't know if they have that that doesn't have real cream cheese in it."

Let’s be real, Watts was always looking for a snack.

“I’ve had some here before; the vegan variety, I mean,” Watts said. “I don’t think there’s as many options but there’s usually one or two.”

Despite being on constant alert for snacks, Watts hadn’t actually come in looking for anything in particular, though now he was considering cheesecake.

At least they weren't actual crab children? Unless Anakin and Stabby had some sort of relationship Stark didn't know about.

"We have so much cheesecake," came the indignant response from behind the counter.

"They have cheesecake brownies too," Stark said, holding up what was left of his. "They're delicious."

"Cheesecake heals colds, right?"

Sure, Anakin.

Snacks are delicious so that was only natural.

"I have to pick flavors," Stark said. "I haven't decided yet. Too many choices."

Lemon maybe? Nutella? Oreo? Peanut butter swirl?

"I don't think I've had it made vegan before."

"I've never heard that it does," Stark said. "I thought that was soup? You're not feeling well?"

"Christopher brought home a cold from school," Anakin said. "It's gone through the whole family over the last few days."

“I quite like it,” Watts said. Of course, it wasn’t as if he had anything to compare it to, having not had cheesecake pre-Fandom.

“That is something that often trips me up here- well, not just here in the bakery, but here in general, in this time. All of the choices. There’s far too many.”

"It's a good problem to have," Stark said. "When you know there will be other chances for other treats. But I promised to bring back cheesecake so I want to make sure I bring back the right sort. Or sorts. Slices of different flavors instead of one whole one seems best. Oh! The strawberry one. I should have some of that one."

[stykera]

What, Jedi couldn't space magic away a little cold? What even was the point of them then?

"I'm sorry. I hope you're all feeling better soon. There's a holiday next week, isn't there?"

Hence all the turkey-shaped items in the pastry case.

“Perhaps I ought to bring some home as well,” Watts mused. “Or some sort of treat, at the very least.”

Clearly Liliana needed to stop into JGoB on her way from the Photo Hut to her store. Was it on the way? Not at all! But shut up! Where else was she going to get lunch? Especially a lunch she could then describe to Ignis and say, 'I'm eating!' and hear his teeth-grinding in real time.

Liliana was a gift.

"What is that confection?" Liliana asked, coming up next to Stark with open curiosity.

"You should," Stark agreed. "I'm sure Steven would appreciate it. Or Marc if there's enough to share."

Marc didn't seem the sort to indulge in baked goods often but who could really resist their allure?

"What do you like best, here?"

Marc liked baked goods just fine! It was cake on his birthday specifically that he wasn’t a fan of.

“I like things with fruit flavours,” Watts said, gesturing towards the danishes with his hands still in his jacket pockets.

The bakery was only not on the way if you didn't try.

"This is a cheesecake brownie," Stark said, holding it up. "Cheesecake on top of a brownie!"

How could you go wrong? And it had eggs and cream cheese in it so there was protein! A totally reasonable lunch!

"I've lost track of how many Thanksgivings we're going to," Anakin admitted. "We'll go up to Connecticut and see Rory's mom, then her grandmother, then her stepdad's family, then her best friend, then her mom's best friend...I'm probably missing one--"

So much pie, Stark.

"Fruit is good," Stark said with a nod. "Would you like to sit? Sometimes I like the fruit pies. I made Summer strawberry brownies once, for her birthday."

[stykera]

Mmmm, pie.

"I'm not going to any that I know of," Stark said.

Maybe you should bring your old friend some pie, Anakin.

"That seems like a lot of meals. All on the same day?"

“That seems- contradictory,” Watts admitted with a slight frown. “The brownies, that is,” he clarified as he twirled down into a seat.

See? Stark got it! Which was just proof that this was perfect for her purposes.

Which was to have a delicious and enjoyable lunch. Obviously.

"Ooooh, that sounds delightful," she said, eyes gleaming. "There seems to be a lot of cheesecake available today."

"All on the same day," Anakin confirmed with a sigh. "It's so, so much food."

[stykera]

"You should have one," Stark told her. He was something of a pusher when it came to baked goods.

"And yes, there is. Convenient, since I promised to bring some to Summer for later."

[stykera]

"She likes pink," Stark said. "So I tried to find something different to make that was pink. She liked them. They tasted of strawberry, not chocolate, but they had a very brownie texture?"
