Midnight Manor - Saturday Morning

After a rather unexpected awakening, Dean and the two Rugrats/Alarm clocks came into the kitchen. Dean started work on making pancakes, sausage and bacon. And after a moment of thought started making vegan bacon and pancake batter as well.

Look if it was happening to him, it was happening elsewhere. Might as well cook for everyone.

He flipped on his phone and the bluetooth speaker and started playing his music and hopefully keep the mood light.

[Open for housemates, vistors or any other little ones.]

"I want panflaps please!" the girl declared.

"I want a quail egg omelette with lightly sauteed spinach and dash of parmigiano reggiano," Samantha demanded.

[single_man_tear]

"It's pancakes and that's what I'm making," Dean replied.

[single_man_tear]

"What? No. We don't have any quail eggs," Dean said giving the kid a look.

[family_business]

"It's panflaps. That's what Uncle Thor calls them," the girl politely informed the clearly confused Uncle Dean. "You know that. Did you drink too much last night?"

[family_business]

"Then I shall have fresh hens eggs for my breakfast. Where's mumsy's servants? They can fetch them for you."

[single_man_tear]

Uncle Thor?

"Well he's a moron," Dean declared. "It's pancakes."

[single_man_tear]

"We don't have any servants, we don't have any fresh eggs and we don't have any spinach, okay Popeye?" Dean snarked back as he started to pour the batter. "So it's pancakes. Take it or leave it."

[family_business]

"You're not supposed to say mean things about Uncle Thor. Auntie Val gets cross when you do that," the girl reminded him.

[family_business]

"I want an omelette!" Samantha demanded.

[single_man_tear]

"Well I don't know who that is either," Dean grumbled. "And they're still called pancakes."

[single_man_tear]

Wow. That kid's voice got low and gravelly real quick.

"Don't take that tone with me, young lady!"

... WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?

[family_business]

There was a huff of defeat. "What about Lucky Charms?"

[family_business]

The girl sighed and began to eat some bacon. "Auntie Val is the best. She lets me ride on her winged horse."

And calls them panflaps.

[single_man_tear]

Oh. Valkyrie. Jane mentioned her the other day. Dean plated up the pancakes and passed them to the girl. "Here you go, kid. Knock yourself out."

Dean sighed. He had been saving those for himself.

He opened the cabinet and pulled out a box and then got the milk out of the fridge. Next came the bowls and the spoons. "Fine. Lucky charms. Happy?"

[family_business]

"Skim milk? Disgusting."

[family_business]

"Um. Excuse me. What are these?" the girl asked innocently.

[single_man_tear]

"Pancakes. I told you I was making pancakes. They're pancakes."

[single_man_tear]

Dean just hung his head in defeat. "Just eat the damn cereal."

[afraid_of_marshmallows]

Not long after breakfast began, there came the sound of light footsteps down the stairs. "Oh hey, Dean!" Arden said. "I got the bouquet you--um."

Guess what she'd noticed

"Auntie Arden!"

There was running and jumping and tackle hugging coming your way, Arden. "I haven't seen you in ages! Please tell Uncle Dean he's making panflaps wrong."

[family_business]

"I don't like them."

No. She hasn't touched them let alone taken a bite yet.

[single_man_tear]

Dean resisted the urge to carve out his own eye with a spatula.

"Just eat them."

These kids were worse than Sammy.

[afraid_of_marshmallows]

"You're making planflaps wrong," Arden said clearly on autopilot as she looked down at the little girl who seemed intent on trying to knock her over, and then at the little girl disdainfully glaring at her bowl of cereal. "Umm, I thought this didn't happen until prom."

Beat.

"What are panflaps?"
