Outback Steakhouse, Thursday Evening

Lydia had been left entirely to her own devices to choose this week's restaurant for Supper Club, and ultimately had selected the "Outback Steakhouse." It had something to do with Australia, as she understood it, and she knew absolutely nothing about the food of that continent.

Honestly, all she knew was that it was where they sent criminals. But she was excited to learn, and she was sure some other people would be, as well! Welcome to Supper Club, everyone!

Rude, narrative. Conversation was for people who cared about maintaining the social framework, not for cool pirates, okay.

Flint glowered from his spot as close to the door as he could be without looking like he was ready to flee. It was marginally successful.

Oh, there was no doubt that Ignis was bound to find something about their meals here today as criminal, no doubt about that. But here's to hoping that if they were going to go and boast a certain focus as a steakhouse that he won't be left disappointed.

And that they'd at least be decent enough to have some good Australian wines on the menu.

Logan didn't need to talk to anyone. In fact, he was feeling so weirdly offended by this entire thing for reasons he couldn't even hope to explain.

He would not be ordering anything willingly. And not just because it might fuck up his accent. But that factored in heavily. ~~He could never interact with McGarrett. Ever.~~

Never fear, Liliana was here to do things like 'start up conversations with people.'

Honestly, gentlemen. Leaving it up to the ladies? Tsk.

Fortunately, Liliana had wine and mischief and that was enough for her.

"Guess what, my darling," Liliana said, draping herself around Ignis. "I've a new poem to share with you."

She was also passing him a glass of Pino G from the Browne Family Vineyards in Columbia Valley in Washington State. Not from Australia, but Columbia Valley was at least a decent wine and the only true Australian wine was a Moscato, and the Italian vintages were all whites.

"Well hello, Captain Flint," Liliana said, drifting towards him with a pleased smile and a glass of wine. "Have you been introduced to modern cocktails yet? This place serves several, most with sailing-themed names. You'll have to try some and give us your opinion."

"You..." Liliana said, coming over to Logan's side. "Have we met, darling? I don't believe we have." She extended a chilly hand. "Liliana Vess, hello."

Flint's eyebrow arched up. "Sailing-themed names?" he repeated. "I generally just order rum."

Because he was a stereotype and water was not to be trusted.

"Mmmm." It was a small hum of approval and thanks (for the wine? for the draping? ¿Por que no los dos?) as Ignis took the wine, and you would not, surprisingly, hear him complain about its origins, although there would certainly be questions about it later. For now, though, just a faint grin for both the offering and this promise (threat? Again, ¿por que...) of poetry. "Is that so, my love? And is it one that can be appropriate shared in a social setting with such mixed company for a change?"

The lift of his eyebrow seemed as much curiosity as it was a challenge. It would seem he was just rife with dualities tonight.

Of course Lydia was here, and trying very hard not to give in to her Mrs. Bennet-y nervous flittering tendencies. It helped that she was very curious to learn what food in Australia was like ~~wrongly~~.

Logan didn't recoil, but he did eye the hand suspiciously. Progress "Logan."

Such a charmer, our Logan.

"Not unless you've been by the bookshop."

Where he nominally worked. 'Worked'

Modern plumbing, Flint! Water was potable now!

"Many of them involve rum, which is why I'm assuming the theme," Liliana said. "Several of the drinks mentioned a 151 proof variety."

Order a drink, Flint. What was the worst that could possibly happen?

"Captain Flint! I'm so pleased you could join us again!" Sorry, Flint, you must participate in the social framework or else disappoint Lydia. The choice was yours.

"Mr. Scientia! I'm ever so pleased you could join us. I must confess I don't know anything at all about Australia except that it is full of criminals." Oh my God, Lydia.

"I would hardly bring it up if it weren't," Liliana said, fluttering her eyelashes at him. "Otherwise, I would have just written it down and tucked it into your pants pocket."

Where, interestingly enough, she was tucking something. How fascinating.

"It's a poem taught in schools, I believe," she continued.

"Mr. Logan, good evening! I'm so glad you could join us again. Do you know anything about Australia? I'm quite at a loss, but excited to try their food." Bless her.

"I've been but not while you were working," she said. "Tell me, Logan, are you more inclined to actually sell the store's stock?"

Typical of gentlemen, in Lydia's experience. "Miss Vess, good evening," Lydia said. "I'm so pleased you could make it."

Okay, whoa, hold your horses, Liliana's narrative! Because Adrian was also here and was probably the closest to an extrovert after you and Lydia.

"Oh, hello!" Adrian said, pulling off his hat as he stepped into the building, because he might have lived in the woods but he'd still been taught manners, thank you. "Looks like I'm in the right place after all."

Silly Adrian, assuming that a) they were at a chain restaurant deliberately, and b) they knew that it even was one.

Sometimes you just needed a blooming onion, which was what brought Rey in tonight. What she hadn't expected was the amount of people she didn't really know well.

She had to check the door to make sure they weren't maybe closed for a party.

Flint had a vague idea what that might mean but he wasn't going to ask. He was just going to nod. "You may pick one for me."

Flint, why would you do that?

Men. So often, too much headache.

"Lydia, good evening," Liliana said. "Thank you for the invitation, darling. Ignis and I rarely go out to restaurants, so this is a rare treat."
