Infinite Consortium - Tuesday
Vacation was definitely over for Dean. Halloween might not have been a big day for spooks specifically, but the fall season brought plenty of pagan harvest festivals, each honoring gods and entities who always seemed to make their presence known this time of year. And this year was no exception.
Between helping the rare customer at the Consortium, Dean spent most of his time on the phone, backing up hunters in their skirmishes with local law enforcement and offering advice on dealing with the nastier creatures they encountered.
"A scarecrow come to life? That’s a classic. Alright, Travis, that's probably tied to some harvest god. Look for any old runes or offerings nearby—corn, bones. Destroy whatever’s anchoring it to the spot. Fire’ll work, but make sure you scatter the ashes, or it might pull itself back together by next harvest. Oh! Right. Check the local towns and farms for anyone having a better crop than usual for the last several years. That's usually the give away. Yeah, and text me when you have the job done or if you need back up. Later, man."
And no sooner had Dean hung up the phone was ringing again. "Federal Bureau of Investigation. Tom Willis speaking."
It was going to be a long day.
