The Perk- Tuesday morning

Rey didn't know when exactly she'd started thinking ahead and focusing more on things like teaching- she certainly didn't think she'd learned everything herself yet- but it seemed to be happening. And so a call was made to a person that she really should have talked to long before this.

She skipped training this morning, settling in at the Perk for a bit while she waited with a drink. It was no cheery chai but it was good anyway.

Luke walked through the door about ten minutes later and gave her a bright smile. "Good morning!"

"Hi," Rey smiled, waving him over. "Thanks for coming."

"Thanks for asking me," Luke said with another smile. "I'm not sure I'm remotely an expert, though."

[thatwaslucky]

"You're at least marginally more experiences than me," she said. "And really, I think a non-expert would help."

[tatooine_doofus]

"Well, I'm definitely a non-expert," Luke said, ordering a hot chocolate before sitting down across from her.

She waited till he was settled and then asked, "Are you completely lost, too?"

"At least 80 percent of the time," Luke said, nodding.

[thatwaslucky]

Did Rey look relieved? She felt relieved.

"We're are you in the process of... all this?"

[tatooine_doofus]

"Looking for students who aren't Leia," Luke said with a little rueful smile.

[thatwaslucky]

"How is it going?" Rey wondered.

[tatooine_doofus]

"Very slowly," Luke said. "I'm not sure if it's because Palpatine was so efficient at wiping out people with Force sensitivity or I just don't know how to find them."

[thatwaslucky]

"I haven't got the first clue of how to do that," she admitted. "Not that I'm anywhere near that, but it would be nice if the Force could give off a signal or something."

"I don't blame them for hiding but it's a big galaxy," Luke agreed.

[thatwaslucky]

"At least we know you manage it," she said. Not immediately helpful unless you're really into optimism, but still.

[tatooine_doofus]

"That's very comforting," Luke said. "I just wish I knew how I did it."

[thatwaslucky]

"I've started doing this thing," she said, "where I meditate and then point the Falcon wherever I'm guided. It's been great for finding people that need help, but not for those who need training."

[tatooine_doofus]

"I haven't done that," Luke said, eyes lighting up. "And not just because Han would never let me try."

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm sure Leia could help a little there," she said.

[tatooine_doofus]

"Maybe," Luke said with another smile. "She's busy reorganizing a galactic government."

[thatwaslucky]

"Which has to be just as frustrating in an entirely different way," she said.

[tatooine_doofus]

"I have learned a lot of words I didn't know on Tatooine," Luke said.

Rey smiled. She didn't really get to hear those words. (Poe did. Poe did a lot.)

"I'm almost not sure how anyone does any of this without panicking at least a little," she admitted.

[tatooine_doofus]

"She's never panicking," Luke said. "She is grounded in a way that I haven't found yet."

"Admirable and unfair," Rey said.

[tatooine_doofus]

"Yes, it is," Luke agreed with a smile of thanks to the person delivering his hot chocolate. "I've started faking that kind of confidence."
