Jon gave Amherst a confused look, but he wasn't going to call anyone out on pretending.

"Yes, um. This is my...well, this is Nex. They're apparently a...sort of a child?"

"Hi!" Nex said, very enthusiastically, bouncing on their sort-of-legs and waving. "I followed Jon the Archivist and John the Librarian, and they're helping me learn to be human!"

"Yes, well. Um." Jon remained convinced this was the worst idea. What kind of model human was he?
