After getting the store set up, Vi spent some time going through the loose dice bins to pick out a couple of suitable sets of dice for Anakin's class later that day.

Of course, in this case suitable meant 'allowed her to keep as much of her twenty dollars as possible'...

"Anything in particular you're looking for?" Steph asked as she came in shortly afterward with two coffees and a box of doughnuts for them to share.

"Have to give the teachers a present in class," Vi explained as she picked a d4 out. "Not sure whether to go for ugliest I can find or something different."

Look, Steph knew what classes here could be like, but...

"You need to give them a present?"

"They did give us money towards it." Which Vi was keeping, thanks.

[drumsticksandd20s]

"So it's kind of like outsourcing impulse buys. You know what? Sure," Steph said, with a resigned sigh. "Would it be evil if I suggested some of those weird dice with a number of sides that make no sense? Because those upset the hell out of me."

That was because you lived and breathed games, Steph.

"I think those kind of dice would be perfect for them," Vi said. For many reasons.

"I might also point out that you are entitled to the employee discount," Steph added, because she was helpful like that.

"The thought hadn't even crossed my mind," Vi replied, the very picture of innocence. "What would I do without you to remind me?"

"You'd just have to remember for yourself." Steph blew a kiss at her as she arranged the coffee and doughnuts on the counter. "And what fun would that be?"

"None at all," Vi said, reaching out to snag a donut.

"That's me, here to make sure you're having fun." Steph winked at her and handed over one of the coffees. "Just the way you like it."

Vi grinned at her as she took the cup, brushing her fingers against Steph's. "Yeah,you are," she said. "The coffee's great too."

"You cannot possibly get any more on my good side than you already are," Steph informed her, not letting go of the coffee just yet. "But thank you. You're pretty fantastic yourself, you know."

"It just so happens that I'm feeling pretty fantastic," Vi said, letting her fingertips traced over Steph's knuckles. "Weird, that."

"What a coincidence," Steph said, feigning shock as she just... kept holding onto Vi's coffee cup. "It's a very good word for you for some reason."

"Yeah," Vi said, making no attempt to actually take the cup away from Steph. "Not sure why."

[drumsticksandd20s]

"I couldn't explain it." Steph took a step closer to Vi instead of trying to move away, to the surprise of no one. "But it's one of the first words that comes to mind when I think about you, and the way you make me feel, so... yeah."

Maybe if you hadn't been paying attention you might have been surprised. "Just so happens that you also make me feel that way."

Steph grinned and leaned in to steal a quick kiss. "Oh yeah? Wow, it's like we're really good for each other or something. Who knew?"

"I never would've guessed," Vi said, grinning at her. "What with how we look out for each other and make each other happy."

[drumsticksandd20s]

"It's like there's a reason we've been together this long," Steph added, and proceeded to try and swipe a sip of Vi's coffee.

"Hey!" Vi leaned in to try and get her coffee back by kissing Steph, because obviously that was more effective than just picking up Steph's coffee and taking a sip of that.

Was she also avoiding thinking about just how long 'this long' was? Quite possibly.

Steph batted her eyelashes ridiculously at Vi. "Yes, my love?" Surely this wasn't going to end in coffee-stained clothes or anything.

Besides, yes, it was a convenient distraction from quantifying 'this long.'

Of course not! That would be ridiculous, and everyone knew these two weren't the least bit ridiculous.

"I think you've got something of mine," Vi said, nuzzling along her jawline.

"Do I?" Steph asked in the most innocent of tones, still trying shamelessly to steal another sip of Vi's coffee as she slid an arm around her waist. "Oh, no, how terrible of me."

They were never anything but dignified and solemn, narrative, how dare you imply otherwise.
