Trooper Station, Friday

Watts's normally ambling walk to the Trooper Station had become a bit of a mad dash today once he'd realised what was going on with the snow. Luckily, he'd been able to snatch up an abandoned newspaper (a real good trick in a town that didn't actually publish a newspaper these days, but Watts supposed some people must have subscriptions to publications from the mainland- or wherever it is they might be from, for that matter) and so while his hat had been speckled with a few flecks here or there, he'd managed to avoid most of it.

Once he'd settled in for the day he sent a quick text to Steven advising him to bring an umbrella when he came by for lunch, and then got down to business as usual at the Station. Which mostly meant fielding calls regarding lawn gnome thefts, today.

No, not thefts of gnomes. Thefts allegedly by the gnomes.

Steven was British, so of course he had a proper umbrella to him himself and their lunch safe from the elements on the way over. He had two umbrellas in fact, though the second he kept closed with the handle hooked over the crook of his arm.

Thus he did get to the Trooper Station safely. He carefully deposited his umbrella near the doorway where it could defrost and drip down onto some spare paper laid down for that purpose. Then he headed to Llewellyn's office and knocked on the doorframe. "Hello, you."

"Hello, you," Watts looked up with a smile.

Steven came in, closing the door behind him. He held up one of the items he'd brought with him. "I brought you an umbrella. To protect you on the walk home."

"You did?" Watts's smile got wider. "That's very sweet of you."

[hasaknightjob]

"Can't have your lovely suit getting ruined now, can we?" Steven said. He tried to look Llewellyn over to asses any such damage.

"I think I escaped unscathed for the most part," Watts said. His hat, currently dangling from the fire extinguisher on the wall, had received most of the snow-slash-paint splatter with a dozen or so spots of colour.

Steven's face fell when he looked in that direction. "Your poor hat! Can we fix it?"

Honestly, that hat had seen worse.

"I should be able to clean it," Watts assured Steven. "I wouldn't worry overmuch about it."

Asking Steven not to worry was akin to asking him not to breathe, but Watts hoped he could at least mitigate it somewhat.

"If you're certain," Steven said, looking not certain himself. But he trusted Llewellyn. "Right. Well. At least it won't get worse on your way home?"

"Because a very thoughtful man brought me an umbrella," Watts said with a nod.

[hasaknightjob]

"Because a thoughtful man warned me to bring one of my own," Steven replied. He stepped closer to Llewellyn to get into kissing distance. "Thank you."

"You are most welcome," Watts said, pulling Steven the rest of the way to him so there could be the aforementioned kissing.

And there was kissing. Not hurried either, since the door was closed so they had all the privacy they needed.

Careful kissing though, since Steven was still holding on to the bag with their lunch.

"Precisely what I needed," Watts sighed in to that kiss.

[hasaknightjob]

"Could have another if you like," Steven said, leaning in to do just that.

[pocketpretzels]

"How generous of you," Watts replied, happily accepting.

[hasaknightjob]

"Even three," Steven said, going in for a kiss a third time.

[pocketpretzels]

"Three isn't even," Watts pointed out cheekily.

[hasaknightjob]

"Oh dear," Steven said with mock seriousness. "Whatever can we do to fix that?"

"Suppose you'll just have to kiss me again," Watts said. "If you think you can manage it."

[hasaknightjob]

"I can if you promise to kiss me back," Steven told him. He went in for another kiss, figuring Llewellyn's subsequent action could serve as a response.

And likely just as Steven had expected, that response was to return the kiss with enthusiasm.

Steven made a happy sound. "Oh that's very nice. We should do more of that in the future."

"Good thing we've the rest of our lives to do so," Watts said.

[hasaknightjob]

"Romantic," Steven said, looking at him fondly. "I like it."

[pocketpretzels]

"Works out well, as I like you a great deal," Watts told him.

[hasaknightjob]

"Lucky me," Steven said, and went in for another kiss.
