On One of Those Little Walls Separating Apocalypse Ave From The Sea, Galactica Point, Friday Night
Eva was not surprised that it took some time to find her son. Nor was she surprised to find him like this: stretched out on an ancient, dirt-covered wall, his red coat draped over the edges, his eyes pointed firmly at the sky. He looked casual, insouciant even, but something was tight in the muscles by his eyes.
A faint tell, but well.
He was her son.
"I hope this isn't where you've been sleeping," she said, her fingers tugging on the hem of that long coat.
"I have a hotel room," Dante told the sky.
"But what's up there is more interesting?" she asked.
"There's this one star where if you look real close, it's actually two," he offered. "I think it's a double sun system. But you know the real trick?"
She looked up. "What's the trick?"
"The second sun isn't actually the twin," he said. "That one's too close for anybody to see. Even with Nephilim eyes. They just make each other look brighter. Feels fucking rude."
Eva nodded, feeling an impatience in herself, and a worry. "Dante," she said. "Look at me."
