Demon Marcus, All Day Thursday
The store was successfully cleaned-out and boarded-up so that renovations could begin, so Ada was spending today stretched-out on the lawn chaise Sparkle had provided, basking in what sunshine peeked out from behind the clouds. She had the big umbrella ready, just in case the rain started, but she wanted to work on her tan, dammit.
The sidewalk sale was set up, and she did have her cash box tucked under the chair, so she'd actually work if people showed up. But for now? She was going to be totally lazy and stretch out like a cat in a sunbeam.
The Demon Marcus Sidewalk Sale was open, and Ada was in!

"What's up?"
He was fine. Just fyi and not mentioning for any reason at all.

Not that Ada was going to say a damn thing about it, yet, because she wanted human contact too. There was a constant countdown ticking away in the back of her brain lately, and spending time with her friends...helped. Made everything less final for a few hours.
"Not much. Been helping Sparkle clean up th' store for th' extra paycheck, an' that's about it," she replied, getting comfy and tossing her legs over his. "He got me a nice bottle of vodka as a 'thank you,' it was all wrapped up with a bow an' everything."

"Awww, that's cool," he said. "Kinda glad I missed out on all that, though."

"I mean, how often do y'get to punch a shark?"

Dante grinned at her, poking her in the side. "And other stuff."

There was a hesitation in his voice. Funny.

"Yeah, but after summer comes fall, with th' leaves changing shades t' pretty golds an' reds, like carnival lights," she said fondly, and if the fingers in his hair slowly went from playful to soothing, well, it was a coincidence. And calming for both of them.
"I love summer, but fall? Fall is when you get proper colors everywhere."

He did need a mermaid.

"I've dyed your hair, dumbass," she teased, gently twisting a little lock around her fingers before she let go and dropped her head on to his shoulder, opting for closeness. "I seen it a lot."
"Still need colors. An' glitter. Everyone needs colors in their life."
no subject
"Glitter, maybe. But fall's when everything comes down."
no subject
"Fall's when you get Homecoming, an' if you don't like winter naps, I happen t' know a place where it's almost always summer an' you can take a break for a few days."
That was the nice thing about her world being just a few months off from Fandom: winter here was summer there, and summer here meant her family was tucked away in nice, warm, Arizona.

"B'sides. I love 'em dearly, but 'm a big girl an' they don't get t' dictate who sleeps over no more."

"You've even got me thinkin' of adoptin' th' next stray cat we come across so that I got company in my trailer, with all th' cute pictures you got of your two."

Security, for one. Though Chester had sworn that they weren't gonna be a problem no more.
Really, Ada just didn't want to be lonely at night.
no subject
He wasn't a dog person.
no subject
Ew, slobber.
"I dunno, does the shelter here have cats? I kinda like th' idea of showin' up at th' ranch all 'You made me go t' SCHOOL, so 'm back with a different attitude problem an' a cat.'"

This was both a terrible and amazing idea.

It'd be fun watching him light up.

Not that he'd get rid of her easily without a cat to document. He was probably going to get whining texts about how hard they were making her work for at least a week.
