Demon Marcus, Sunday
You know, all-in-all, Sparkle was actually doing pretty good this week. Sure he still had a tab open in his work browser with a link to that costume design course on it that he hadn't done anything with yet, and sure he was half paranoid about who was going to walk into his shop next, but his week had been pleasant enough, and he'd picked up the biggest, most sugary-sweet disgusting concoction that the Perk would make for him that didn't have pumpkin spice in it. Besides, there were new jackets in for fall that it was entirely possible he was trying on himself before hanging up.
He really liked the yellow one. He wasn't going to get the yellow one, but he really liked it.
[OOC: Open, but for slooooowplay. This is day three of the convention I'm tabling at and I can almost see through time at this point.]

Also, Seivarden assumed that Hannibal and Jono had some kind of status here, considering the house they lived in, although the social hierarchy on the island was hard to understand.
So, here she was, entering the shop, not exactly looking forward to what she had to do.

He wasn't going to point out that he'd told her not to come back. He was pretty certain she had gotten that memo.
"Seivarden, was it?" Yeah, he'd listened to the radio. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
'Pleasure.'
He sounded thoroughly unimpressed.
no subject
"Good morning," she greeted, "Sparkle."
She offered a tiny smile, for the sake of politeness.
"Hannibal Lecter mentioned that there seemed to have been a misunderstanding during my last visit."
Not using that word, but still.
no subject
Still not sounding terribly impressed. But curiously.
"A misunderstanding, huh? And where do you figure the misunderstanding was, exactly?"
Was it at the part where Sparkle had told her to get the fuck out of his store and not come back? Had that part been misunderstood?
no subject
"Cultural differences," Seivarden replied. "From what I understand I misinterpreted you."
no subject
Go on. Tell him he was wrong.
no subject
"I took your disinterest in assisting me as a sign of rudeness," Seivarden replied, unable to conceal her growing irritation.
"As I've said, I've been told the assumption was wrong."
no subject
"I mean, I've got far more disinterest now than I did when you walked in before," he pointed out. "I'm not sure what about 'if you need anything let me know' strikes you as disinterested, but holy shit, your attitude after that was pretty fucking rude where I'm standing."
no subject
She actually tried to tone down the sarcasm.
no subject
"Inviting yourself back into a shop you've been banned from is ruder," he said. Pleasantly. "Where I'm standing, you're actually pretty lucky I'm not calling the troopers right now."
What? It wasn't like he had to make this apology easy.
"But so that you know for the next business you walk into, some businesses in this day and age are generally pretty hands off. Including most shopping experiences. If you want someone to drop everything to wait on you hand and foot, you walked into the wrong kind of clothing shop. And if you figure you're simply making your displeasure known by talking to someone like you just took in a mouthful of dog shit and refusing to so much as make eye contact, mostly you're just presenting yourself as an ass."
He spread his hands.
"That's the 21st century. Fun place."
no subject
Seivarden was now doubting she would ever get to the apology part.
"And quite frankly, I fail to see how anything I did could be interpretated as you describe it, so I'm going to put that down to cultural differences too."
Although Sparkle was the first person reacting this way.
no subject
"Sure. Instead of stopping to do some self-exaimination and figuring out how to keep from insulting more people in the future, just blame it on cultural differences. That way nobody's at fault, but secretly you can keep telling yourself it's actually just me. So, who told you to come apologize?"
Because clearly she didn't want to be here doing this.
no subject
"Aatr's tits, yours was the first shop I walked into on this island, and I end up having to deal with you. No, I did not intend to insult you, yes, I came here intending to apologize because a family member of yours told me it was appropriate."
She paused.
"I... Just...Why do you fucking care enough to make this a problem?"
Not that Seivarden wouldn't harbour a grudge, but she was att least prepared to apologize.

Hi, Miguel. Sparkle was still having a good day, dammit. No hoity-toity full-of-herself asshat was going to ruin that for him, especially not when half the people to walk in today so far were pretty darn great.
"What are you looking for today?"
no subject
no subject
Unless you were a dick.

no subject
They were work pants! Not office pants.

"Well, if I know I'm going to be doing things that need sturdy clothes, I have a suit of UMF," he confessed. "But slacks aren't too bad." He frowned. "Unless that's a 2017 versus 2099 thing."
no subject
Definitely a 2017 vs. 2099 thing.
no subject
"Oh, right. Unstable molecule fabric? It adjusts really easily to extremes and impacts - makes it nearly impossible to cut or burn or anything."
no subject
"And you, like, get cut and burned often, huh?"
Explained why he was so hard on pants.
no subject
He held out one hand and set his talons free. "I'm better than I used to be, but if I get startled, my clothes tend to suffer. Or my bed. Or my walls."
no subject
"Huh."
This was not even the strangest thing he'd seen this month. So.
"That must be a pain in the ass."
