FTPD: Reinforcements

Briscoe sat at his desk and reviewed the events of the last few days. So far they've had the Jersey mob move into town, a threatening flower delivery to a student, and a werewolf attack.

The first two were events that a New York Detective could relate to. The last one was a little out his league.

Yep. This town is going to have more problems and it's only going to get nuttier.

He types up a notice and runs it by Mike before posting it outside the department and placing an ad in the local newspaper.

The

fandomtownies Police Department is currently recruiting for additional police officers to staff the town of Fandom during the evening hours and alternating weekends.

Applicants must have a law enforcement background and clean legal record.
Expertise in interrogation, investigation and forensics helpful. Super powers a plus.

Law enforcement positions not open to Students.

Student Positions available:
Filing Clerk
Must be able to handle vital case information without leaking to public or student body for their own Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys/School Newspaper assignments. [OOC:"Wink Wink, Nod Nod"]

Dispatchers (3)
Must take incoming calls and alert on duty police officers. Must be available during evening hours and weekends.

Student positions must pass a background check and have no detentions on their records. Any knowledge of police procedure a plus.

All positions will get full medical and dental insurance and free use of the *doink doink* and *splooshes* in their postings.

Hey boys. *scratches his head absently* I've got a bit of experience dealin' with high school kids and I requested a transfer over from the Jump Street Chapel to help you fellas out. Lookin' forward to workin' with ya if you'll have me.

Mike stands up and shakes Jenko's hand.

"Trust me on this... No other high school has kids like this. How are you with werewolves?"

Whoa, man, werewolves? Did I hear you right? *shakes head* Groovy. Hey, growth through challenge, isn't that it?

Mike and Lenny share a look with each other.

"Did we mention the mandatory drug testing?"

Hey man, just 'cause the cat talks a good game don't mean anything. I'm a cop, just like you two. So what if I never grew up?

Mike smirks.

"Then you and I should get along just fine. BTW... You good at drug sting operations?"

*Mike & Lenny bring Jenko up to date on the numerous issues going about town and school, including the case of the missing

Drug stings? Man, I was doin' drug stings before marijuana was *invented*.

*listens to the ongoing investigations* Yeah, yeah, disappearances, sounds bad. Werewolves and a tentacle monster, huh? Some jurisdiction you two got here. Can't wait to get to work.

Lenny looks over her paperwork.

"Cavanaugh? You're from Beantown? I knew a guy on the force way back when..."

"Fun place, isn't it?" Jordan asked, smirking a little. "I just came in to tell you that I'm opening up a Coroner's Office and we might see a bunch of each other ~~because I'm too nosey for my own good~~ because I like to take an active role."

Always good to know the local coroner. You do forensics as well? We got some CSI guys from Vegas teaching a couple of courses up at the school. We're not allowed to be on school grounds, but if you run into a snag you can leave them a voicemail.

"Yeah I do forensics too. Used to work for a man named Garrett Macy, back in Boston."

I've heard of him. You guys do good work. Are you familiar with some of the "problems" we've had around here?

[OOC: Don't suppose Woody Hoyt will be showing up?]

"You know, you look a bit like an FBI agent I knew once. Yeah I've heard some things."

(OOC: I would DIE if someone joined as Woody. I would like worship them.)

Kate was having trouble finding the police station. She had a map, but the town's geography was a bit...cluttered.

"Figures," she muttered, walking and examining the map simultaneously, "I just want to ~~beg for a job~~ offer my services, and I can't even find the place..."

This, obviously, was when she stopped and found herself in front of the station. She walked foreword and studied the door, reading the sign. Kate rolled her eyes at the handy coincidence.

"I probably should have expected that." This said, she rolled up her map and pushed through the door.

((I saw that you guys were hiring and I just couldn't resist. Hope I'm doing this right. >.>))

Briscoe smiles at the blonde woman coming into the office.

"Can I help you miss?"

Kate smiled back, rather nervously.

"I'm here about your recruitments. I was a homicide detective for several years, and I think I can be a help." She paused, and her smile became strained.

"I've dealt with some...odd things before."

Lenny smiles.

"Listen Lady, if you have dealt with anything as remotely odd as this place... you'll fit right in."

"That's pretty much what I was hoping for." She looked around, noting the other applicants.

"How many people are you going to hire?" Which obviously led into, "How bad is it, exactly?"

"Well... How do you define bad? We've got an Evil law firm, A flower shoppe whose owner I don't trust, a vampire who runs the local pub and a store that sells magical items that scare the living crap out of me. Finally there's a student body that contains demons, vampires and a couple of werewolves."

Lenny motions with his thumb to the back of the room where

capt_jenko and

det_mlogan are chatting.

"Right now it's just me and the katzenjammer twins. We'll need all the help we can get."

Lenny looks over her application. "LA, huh? Well you'll probably fit in well with this environment. As far as I'm concerned you're hired. Know anybody else who might be interested?"

Kate nodded silently at his review, taking it all in--and noting the evil law firm. When he finished, she grinned.

"Thank you, I'll do the best I can. This town sounds even stranger than I imagined, but I think I can handle it." She paused, thinking.

"I don't really no anyone here yet, but...do you know if a man named Angel is living here?" She doubted it, but she thought it would be right to mention him, just in case. If anyone could get a handle on this plcae, it was him.

"He's a very good detective. A bit unorthodox, but I think that might be a good thing here." It certainly was in LA, she thought, even if I didn't realise it for a while.

Lenny scowls.

"If you mean 'Angelus', we've already met. I don't think he's the type of guy you'd call a "Good Detective" though. If that kid has an ounce of good in him I'll dress up like Michael Jackson and dance to his all time greatest hits."

Kate's eyes widened, and she felt herself go numb. Images and words laced with fear and contempt echoed in her mind, and all of it felt justified for the first time in months.

Her lips curled into a hard smile.

"He wouldn't." She closed her eyes and mentally shook herself.

"I don't know of anyone, then. So, anything else I need to know?"

Lenny gave Lockley a curious look.

"He wouldn't what? If you're talking about Angelus being a vampire, we've already had the revelation. Heck, there's some kid at the school who has snakes for hair!"

[ooc: *writes this down to remind you if/when somebody slaps a soul into the boy*]

"Wouldn't make a good detective," she clarified. "I don't think he's prone to public service."

Kate raised an eyebrow.

"Snakes? I'm starting to appreciate LA." She smirked.

"And if anything could make me say that...

Lenny gives her a big smile. "Welcome to the Town of Fandom, Detective Lockley. It's no Hellmouth, but we like it here anyway."

Kate smiles back, her apprehension gone.

"Thanks. Oddly enough, I think I'll like it here."
