Shane saunters up to the shop, a cigarette dangling from her mouth and a take-out cup of Perkolater coffee in her hand as always. She knocks back the last of her espresso and pitches the cup, scanning the blackboard and making note of the specials as she finishes her cigarette. She's dressed in a simple black wifebeater, black jeans and her beat-up black Chuck Taylors. Snuffing the cigarette out in an ashcan, she opens the door and steps inside.

"Hey, Deb," she says genially as she comes in.

I think we're set for sidework right now.

Everything's clean and full and we're ready! I'm so excited. My own diner.

*looks around at the shop and the cafe and smiles; Deb's excitement is infectious* It's great, Deb. Really. I'm sure everybody'll love it.

Lily walks in quickly and chooses a small table by the window - there isn't much time between classes, but she couldn't stand the thought of another meal in the school cafeteria

*approaches the table and shakes her hair out of her eyes, favoring the both of them with an easy, though slightly bashful, smile* Hi, um... I'm Shane. What -- what can I get for you guys?

*Geoff wanders in and looks around. He casts a charming smile at __lily_evans and walks up to pflag_mom_deb.*

Madam, you said I should come by sometime to eat. Although unfortunately I wasn't able to bring my lady with me today.

"Got anything portable?" he held his hands out to indicate something that could go into a box. "I'm leaning a meeting tonight. I heard people like it when there's food."

Ivanova strolls into the diner, her eyes suspciously red, and bellies up the counter to look longingly at the deserts. "I want something chocolately and very bad for me," she declares to no one in particular, and sniffles.

Rogue walks into the diner, carrying her schoolbag. She sits down in an empty corner booth, dropping her bag on the floor. She adjusts her opera-length red gloves--they'd fallen a bit when she removed the bag--and starts rummaging for her schoolwork.

Shane approaches the booth, pad and pen in hand, and her eyes are trained immovably on the girl seated in front of her. Her brows furrow slightly in puzzlement at the gloves, but she shrugs it off. Everybody has their own style. She clears her throat.

"Hi," she says, voice a mid-timbre purr. "What can I get for you tonight?"

Rogue says, "I'll have an iced tea, sweetened, please," then looks up from her bag. She blinks a couple of times, looking at the waitress. "Um, er, and what are the specials?" She looks rather flustered for no apparent reason.

"I'm not really sure what I was going to say," Rogue murmurs. "I'm a little off balance right now."

Her eyes follow Shane's fingers as they run down her hair. Looking back up at the other girl, she pauses, and swallows. "No. It's ... not exactly what I'd call natural, but it's definitely permanent." The words come out in broken phrases, a little too soft, but Rogue's eyes never leave Shane's.

Shane nods, leaning her head on her hand. "Well... whenever it comes to you," she says with a slight shrug, smiling.

As she looks into Rogue's eyes, she takes note of her words and her tone, her instincts telling her all that she needs to know. Whatever it was, however it happened, it wasn't good. "Did it... did it hurt?" She asks in a hushed voice, brows knitting together.
