The Perkolater

Veronica decides to take advantage of her relatively slow day and relax with her laptop at the Perkolater.

She enters, orders a chai latte, and takes a seat at a corner table. She opens the laptop and starts organizing her files.

Lee rushes in to grab a latte before getting back to his evening class. After purchasing his drink, he sees Veronica and without hesitation goes over to her.

"Hey, Veronica!"

Veronica looks up from her computer and smiles.

"Hey, Lee. How was your day?"

Lee smiles back.

"A lot brighter now that I've seen you. See ya around, Veronica Mars"

He waves and leaves.

Lilly enters the coffee shop and sneaks up behind Veronica.

"Hey nerd, get your hands away from the laptop. We need to talk boys and dresses, STAT."

Veronica jumps at Lilly's voice, but closes the lap top and gestures for Lilly to join her.

"Want a latte or something?"

"Mmm, yeah. I'm totally exhausted, I need the caffeine. I've been working on Homecoming crap. I need to go out tonight and find myself a date."

Veronica goes and buys Lilly a latte.

She sits back down and asks, "What about that guy Logan you live with? Or would that be too weird cause of the name thing?"

"He's cool, but I think my roommate Allie has a crush on him. Spotty as my past may be on the issue of men, I wouldn't bang one of my girl friend's prospects."

"Is Allie the girl that was with you the other night?"

"Yeah, she's my roommate. Now that you have been fully corrupted, I needed a new project. She reminds me a little of you, a long time ago."

"Oh, that poor girl. She's going to get 'Lilly-fied' isn't she?"

Veronica sips her chai.

"So. I guess you got my message," she says with a smile and a faint coloring of her cheeks.

"You say that like it is a bad thing. She'll thank me for it." Lilly winked. "Yeah I did. You need to spill, now."

"Well, I got this message from Lee the other day, telling me he had an issue he needed help with. We played phone tag for a few days and then he left a message saying his issue was taken care of, but he still had something to discuss with me.

I've seen him around a lot and hung out with some of his friends, but we hadn't really talked.

I get to study hall yesterday and see him sitting there, so I go over to see what's up and he asks me to go to homecoming. Totally stunned me, but I figured why not and said yes."

"Why would it stun you? There should be a line around the block to take you to Homecoming. It is going to be the party of the century, and you are one of the most fabulous girls at this school.

I don't think I've met Lee. What's he like?"

"Well, I don't know him that well, but he seems really nice ~~and is totally in love with John Crichton, but is in denial~~ and I know a lot of the people he hangs out with they're all good people."

Veronica chuckles.

"Remember before I started dating Duncan when I thought I'd never have a boyfriend?"

"Oh yeah, I didn't think anyone could write poetry quite that... depressing without being goth or something. But then Donut-hole swept you off your feet... or whatever.

I think I know some of his friends. That should be fun. Do you think he has any ~~not flamingly homosexual~~ friends I could ~~molest~~ ask to the dance? I'm throwing it, I can't go alone."

Veronica groans at the remembrance of her angsty high school love poems.

"Yeah, Duncan swept me off my feet and then dumped me without giving me a reason. After that, I dated a drug dealer, a cop and Logan. My romantic history is stellar."

She thinks for a moment.

"I think most of Lee's friends have dates, but I can ask."

She pauses.

"Are you telling me the great Lilly Kane doesn't have hordes of male followers yet?"

"Because mine is better?" She laughs and takes a long sip of her coffee. "Keeping up with school and Homecoming is way tougher than I thought. I did kiss this one guy... but that was a stupid drinking game and I haven't seen him on campus since. The most action I've gotten was from that giant ball who works security."

"Point," Veronica agrees with a laugh.

"I'm still curious about you and Weevil," she admits, her cheeks coloring slightly.

"Who did you kiss? Did you like it? Maybe you should ask him to homecoming."

"I'm sure you are. As for the boy, his name is Julian. I totally made an ass out of myself, but he is hot and he seems to be really sweet. But he doesn't have a cell phone or anything. I figured I could work my magic on him, but not if I can't find him, you know?"

"I don't think I've met anyone named Julian yet. Want me to work some Mars magic and see if I can track him down?"

"I knew there was a reason I loved you. This is just one of many. If you could that would be great, but no worries. I'm still playing the field, if you know what I mean." *wink*

Veronica gives Lilly a wry smile, but flips open her laptop.

"All right... give me what you got. His name is Julian. What else do you know?"

[ooc: sorry - i crashed last night - we can continue this in slow play if you want]

He lives in the dorms, he's got an accent... he's a fucking hottie. He seemed real paranoid too, like I was going to sneak attack him with a gremlin or shoot him or something. I don't know.

Veronica rolls her eyes.

"Gee, Lilly, should be a piece of cake," she says, her voice laced with sarcasm.
