Rory walks in, looking pretty much like death (not DEATH) warmed over.

"Hi, Maia. I have a...problem."

Maia looks startled for a second.

"What's wrong?" Maia comes around the side of the counter looking concerned.

"I need candy that says that I'm sorry," Rory says, deciding that's the simplest explanation. "Preferably something that is liquor-filled."

Maia laughs and finally lets a breath out. "Oh is that all. Geez."

Maia goes back around the counter eyeing Rory for a moment.

"Is this an I'm sorry I broke your favorite CD or an I'm sorry I didn't mean to say those awful things and then sleep with your best friend? Help me out here."

Rory sighs. "It's 'I'm sorry that another guy kissed me and I didn't protest as much as I should have, because I care about you and I don't want to throw what we have away over something stupid like this.'"

Maia thinks for a moment then nods. "Ok, I have some raspberry cordial bourbon truffles. Nice and sweet with a bit of a bite?"

"Bourbon?" Rory asks, perking up a bit. "I like that. And so will he. I'll take them."

Maia nods and wraps them up. "What color ribbon? and would you like a card?"

"Um, maybe like a dark green color for the ribbon...and yes, I'll take a card too. I don't need them delivered or anything, by the way. I kind of want to give them to him in person."

Maia nods again curling the dark colored ribbon. "The card selection is over there and that will be $30.00 even."

Rory selects a small, plain card, and pays for everything. "Thanks," she says, smiling - it's weak, but sincere.

Maia is still eyeing Rory concerned but given their past history she simply returns the smile and says Your Welcome.

Rory looks down at the candy, and knowing it won't be enough, wonders, "What am I going to say?"

She realizes a second later that she spoke aloud, and glances furtively at Maia. "Sorry I'm being so neurotic about this," she apologizes, "but...I really screwed up, and I don't know how I'm going to fix it."

Maia supresses a laugh "I have about 300 different kinds of chocolate. Would like one of each or do you want to be more type specific?" Maia's tone is very warm and friendly, she is intrigued by the man in front of her. "Where are you from? England or Africa?"

Maia smiled. "I.D.?" she said sweetly

Maia studies the I.D. satisfied she smiles at him. "40 years old, well I believe it. Hell I'm really 67." She leans back on the counter waiting for him to decide.

Maia leans down into the counter to get them. "I'm partial to New Zealand wine myself" Maia stands up slowly with the chocolates. "Are these for a friend or yourself?"

Maia grinned and leaned forward to set the box on the counter and get a ribbon. "Nothing wrong with a bit of guilty pleasure now and again is there?"
