The Emporium is Open (Thursday morning)

Michael flips the sign from "closed" to "open," then peers over at the mousetrap he'd set the night before (at Deb's suggestion). He stares at it in confusion. The trap has been sprung, but it is empty, and the cheese is gone. More disconcerting is the fact that there is a quarter next to the trap. Michael knows it wasn't there the night before. He bends down and picks up the coin, examining the teeth marks on it as he stands up again.

Ben wraps his arms around Michael from behind and kisses his cheek. "See, I was right. A customer."

Michael rolls his eyes. "Great. At least it pays. But if it's living under there, it's going to pay rent too," he grumbles.

Chihaya pushes in the door and stops when he sees the affectionate display. Blushing and smiling, he doesn't interrupt them and goes to work on pricing and putting out stock for the day.

He grabs a price gun and the pricing sheets. "I am, thanks!" He wiggles his shoulders and nods. There is only the lingering soreness. "Killing zombies is harder than the movies make them out to be."

"I will!" Chihaya chirped. He couldn't think of anything off hand but was sure something would come to him.

Kate walks into the Emporium, mentally going over the list of what she needs. She stocked her house when she moved in, but she's running out of several things.

She glances at the counter and immediately recognises the clerk as the boy who had aided Kryceck's group last weekend. She smiles, wonderering absently where his wings went--them marvels that such a thought now seems commonplace.

Kate shifts her gaze from the boy to who she assums is the owner. "Could you point me to the vegetables?"

Kate gives him a grateful smile and nods, before making her way to the produce. Once there, she collects all of her regular vegetables--carrots, tomatoes, and callaflower, to name a few--and places them in a plastic bag.

This finished, she grabs two cartons of milk, and then makes her way back to the counter, placing the them upon it.

"I'll keep that in mind," Kate says, reaching for her wallet. She locates it without looking, onling glancing at it when she flips it open. Several seconds later she pulls out a ten dollar bill and hands it over.

After pocketing her change, Kate give him another smile before gathering her bags and leaving the store.
