Outside the Perk...
It was a lovely morning: balmy but sunny, with the occasional twitter of birds. It was almost hard to imagine the town as it had been the previous weekend - the storm with its neverending rain, the zombies, her first glimpse official glimpse of the high school being that of a complete war zone.
Sitting at one of the small tables set up outside, Shane's legs are folded up together in front of her in the chair as she sits, scribbling in a notebook. Occasionally, she pauses in her writing to take a sip of her double-shot of Black Death. She's dressed in a soft, gray hooded sweatjacket, a dark green wifebeater, baggy black cargo pants and her steel-toed boots, her aviator sunglasses with the plum-colored lenses perched on her nose.
Her hands are no longer bandaged and the numerous cuts, scrapes and bruises on her knuckles are easily visible. It also explains why she's writing a bit more awkwardly than she usually would.
For the most part, her expression is calm and thoughtful... though, occasionally, the calm gives way to a troubled frown as she continues writing.
[Ooc: Come play with me! Feel free to jump in... (Well! It works for CJ! XD)]

Sorry I had to duck out last night early. Sara's been sick and I needed to get back.

Following Maia's eyes down to her hands, Shane clears her throat carefully. She takes another sip of her coffee and then digs into the pocket of her hoodie, pulling out her cigarettes. She presses one between her lips and thumbs open the lid of her lighter, sparking it and holding the flame to the end of her cigarette for a moment.

I'm sorry I didn't say anything when you ordered, but you're Shane, correct? Mrs Smith told me that you get 50 cents off all drinks until the end of the term for saving her clothes and washing them for her. Come back up when you want your next refill and I'll take care of it then.

"Uh, th-thanks - thank you," she stammered, obviously delighted but a bit caught off guard. "Would you please tell her I said thank you?"

A little. Everything's fixed, and I should be fine in a week or so.
But damn am I gonna hurt.
And I slept through my physics test. Ain't so sure this is all worth it.

Not so sure sex is worth taking a beating for.
Last time I got beat this bad, I at least got laid.

"So when you got laid, was that before, during or after the beating?" Shane asks, not being facetious or sarcastic, just genuinely curious.

During and after.
*scowls*
That's why I wasn't any good in the fight last night. You know Bagoas didn't go home? He wasn't with me and he wasn't with Jayne, either. Did you see him?

Satine says he's not there either. She's practically a basket case over this.
Look, I do need to check in on campus.
